I have a colleague in Vancouver, Canada who has never been to China. She warned me about going to China, she said police will arrest you if you say the wrong thing. I almost wanted to burst out laughing!!!! I am amazed that some people literally believe everything the media tells them esp. on TV, news. etc... No wonder we are named " The herd..."!!

I have been to China in March of this year and it is a great country. What she is saying is all true. Seeing people walking with guns is not my way of feeling safe in the US.

What’s interesting is that many Western vloggers love to use the Chinese police as their video covers - whether they love or hate China. It seems that in the eyes of Westerners, China is a military state/police state, and Chinese people are very afraid of the police. On the contrary, we Chinese call soldiers "people's son & brother army". The most reassuring thing is to see the soldier or police. In the eyes of most people, the police/soldiers are the most trusted people besides their own family members. A mother with her baby in public who wants to use the restroom will hand the baby over to a nearby police officer. People who violate traffic rules but are not convinced will loudly argue with the police without any fear. There was a shortage of masks in the early days of Covid, and people would donate their masks to the police station. When drivers drive pass a police officer on duty, they will hand them a bottle of water. Some little kids even hug a policeman when they see him on the street.

You can leave your phone on a table and use restroom knowing it will still be there when you get back, you can't do that in the West.

When America was opening up by the immigrants from Europe which was suffering from famine, guns were common to kill and steal the lands of the native American Indians. The richer landowners would hire gunslingers to rob the defenceless homesteaders of their land. Hence America was built with guns. Power comes from the gun. I could be wrong but read the book by Jack Schafer's book "Shane"

You can smoke a Cuban cigar in China but you get arrested if your smoke a Cuban cigar in US even in private. It’s illegal to own Cuban cigars in US.

Talking about safety, PRC is indeed a very safe country to travel. One of the reasons is CCTV cameras are everywhere so every crime will be caught on tape, and they help police officers to track down those criminals. I know the west would scream "privacy", but I think with those cameras, I would feel alot safer. Not to mention that I watched other China youtuber that he discovered a car left unattended on the street with window down and unlocked.

Yesterday here in L.A. A 60 year old woman was stabbed to death in the L.A. Metro subway in a random attack. Few days ago, a bus rider and a city bus driver also got stabbed in 2 separate incidents. I wouldn’t use any public transportation here in the U.S.. Speaking of freedom, we do have a freedom here that you don’t have in China, and that’s the freedom to walk into any store and take whatever you want without paying, and just walk out without any fear of repercussions.

But the difference between the US and China is in the US the rich and those who can afford wall themselves in nice areas and exclude the rest outside in poor enclaves while China has official policy to lift the poor in poor regions and include them in common prosperity. As a native Chinese, let me tell this American lady what can be done in the United States but not in China. In China, you cannot openly express the desire for the president to step down by displaying banners. If you do so, you will vanish without a trace, and no judicial system will care about your fate. In China, you cannot express any form of dissatisfaction with the government, including protests and demonstrations. If you do so, what awaits you is not judicial action but the armed forces and tanks. Your body will be crushed into a pulp after being run over by tank treads. In China, you cannot access overseas media platforms such as UKposts, Google, Instagram, Twitter, etc. If you do so, it's considered illegal. Whether the judicial system will catch you depends on their mood and desire to do so. In China, you cannot transfer assets overseas, purchase foreign stocks or bonds. Bitcoin and ETH are illegal in China. The Chinese government considers all assets to belong to them, so they won't allow your wealth to leave the country. In China, bank interest rates are very low, only about 2%. But in Hong Kong, RMB interest rates can reach 14-18%. However, you cannot deposit your RMB in Hong Kong because the Chinese government prohibits your RMB from going offshore. In China, if the house you bought is unfinished and cannot be delivered, you can only accept your fate. And even without getting the house, you still have to pay all the mortgage payments. Chinese banks are owned by the government. They don't care if you actually move into the house; they only care if you repay the money. In China, you cannot default on your mortgage payments. Once you default, the bank will blacklist you and confiscate your property. Don't think that defaulting means you don't have to repay the money. After your house is confiscated, you still have to continue paying off the remaining mortgage. There are many more absurdities like this in China, all because Chinese people lack a democratic system. Americans, please cherish your democracy and the Second Amendment to your Constitution. Chinese people are oppressed and enslaved by the Chinese government because they lack weapons to overthrow their government. The Chinese government, supported by violence, ruthlessly abuses the Chinese people, and the people have no effective means of resistance. Americans should be wary of such UKpostsrs. Why can she go to China? Why does the Chinese government allow her entry? Why isn't she arrested in China? Does she not need to work in China? Where does her money come from? Why does she presume that Western media distort facts? I suggest Americans thoroughly investigate the backgrounds of such expatriates, as it concerns the national security of the United States.

You forgot to mention one more big difference between USA and China. In China the jewelry stores selling Rolex and gold don’t have double security doors, security guards armed with guns, or double layer glass -smash proof display counters. The opposite is in USA.

Us tourist can go to China trip after applied the visa or vis free 144 day can go to HK, Macau, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia,South Africa etc.

I live in Vietnam and I see people drinking beer out in the streets all the time. It's the norm here. In fact, there are wedding parties right in the middle of the street! No one seems to mind although some of these parties block the entire road. Also, people sing karaoke with giant loud speakers. The police only get involved if the music goes past 10 pm but they are rarely called out. In Vietnam, people are very tolerant and mind their own business.

I’ve been living in China for twenty years , the only time somebody stole my belongings was two months ago when I landed in the Beijing Daxing international airport from Hong Kong, I was sitting on a bench in the International Arrival Hall playing with my phone, and when I left, my wallet fell out of my pocket. Five minutes later I realized my wallet was gone, so I went back to look for it, but it was gone. I went to the police station to request a surveillance camera, and found out that it had been stolen by another foreigner.😅😅

The greatest thing China is doing right now is enabling the undeveloped and developing countries to become a moderately prosperous country through the BRI and infrastructure development. This is to he essence of what a rich country should do, to enable others to be rich as well and not to exploit them.

Minorities in China are very powerful! They get extra points on the college entrance exam, about 10 points, and the government sends them beef and mutton for their festivals. This was told to me by a minority friend. I am Han, and in China we are the lowest class. 30 years ago, if a minority killed a Han, they would not be sentenced to death. They would only be sentenced to death if they killed two Hans. However, if a Han killed a minority, he would be sentenced to death. This is all true, so there is no discrimination against minorities in China.
