I really enjoyed it. However, the ending was cliche as usual. The "Humanity can learn to be better" speech is overrated. For once, I want to see the so called "good guys" lose and get the same treatment they've been serving everybody else. If Leo had won by persuading Harp, it would've been a better ending and would've set up an interesting sequel.

You guys are all missing the point. Harp stopping Leo was all part of his plan or rather it was his Plan B. Leo's goal is not to ''punish the US because they wage war all the time''. His goal was to stop the use of more androids like him in the future. Because he knew that this would lead to more wars.(If you don't have to send in human soldiers but instead robotic ones, wars will become more frequent,eventually destroying humanity.) So, he had Plan A: the nuke hits the US and the Military cancells the android soldier program. or Plan B: Harp stop his at the last minute and the scare of an rogue android, almost nuking the USA will put an end to the use of more androids. Either way, he accomplishes his mission. Remember, he is smarter than us and has planned all this.

@agonleed3841
@agonleed3841 3 роки тому
@@doublep1980 I didnt think of that. I took all other things to account the stack of papers he signed and we never knew about. We know what he said, NDA, but when we start to even just FEEL like Leo was manipulative, I had to question them. The the scene when he tells he had an override trigger. Reverted me to the point whe Harper asked who programmed him to curse so much and he stares he responds to the in front of him. And that he feels more more acutely. And it makes him more empathetic as well. So..its like, to me, he took in all what others felt. As Harper was debriefing eckhart, he stated that the two sides pitted against each other are fighting for the same thing. And we see they each think they're doing right. And we know the outcome is they think collateral damage is fine as long as it gets what they feel is right. And we know Harper will also make that choice. And we know with all these a.i. movies, that one robot will think a way to have control of themselves. But that means other a.i is thinking it..only one was smart enough to pull it off. So while the a.i. was sentient, it came in contact with all these other people that it internally empathized with. And became smart enough to also use them against themselves while freeing himself. I didnt think he had a master plan of A and B. I thought he sought after that plan to wipe the program just because he came in contact with so many people he empathized with, who think of dokfn the right thing. And that it was HIS right thing.

I think that was the point and kinda made the most sense. Earlier in the film Sofiya says "you see, Leo, he can't lie to himself. He can't pretend there's virtue in an immoral act." I think that says it all. Leo knew what he wanted to do was wrong but he knew what he wanted to prove. He couldnt do it so he made the human make the choice. As much as he wanted to nuke the US I dont think he could deep down. He did so many things that made no sense at the end. He didnt kill I Harp although we all know he has the ability to. He waited so long and was working so slow. There were so many mistakes that he made at the end that only make sense if they were purposeful. I think the ending is more complex than we think

He is not unfamiliar with the human experience but it seems he has no one person’s memory. Maybe, because his clone/human mind could “override” certain protocols, that are of a higher order (collective consciousness), it again displays the balance of duality. “The robot taught the human, how to be human” internally as well. Thanks for the review on this one, I just finished watching it on Netflix. Little sidenote: Nuclear weapons are made of a plutonium hollow spere completely surrounded by explosive lenses. When the conventional explosive detonates, it compresses the plutonium sphere into a critical mass and we have the big boom. But you have to absolutely ignite all lenses at the perfect exact same point to create a nuclear explosion. When the silo was attacked by a missile from above, it would cause the conventional explosive to go off uncontrolated and simply burn and spread plutonium arround

You have to remember leo didnt know that harp had armor piercing bullets also harp didn't even ask for weapons that could take down leo. It all seems rather simple to me: 1. The difference is Harp shot his drone to kill enemies when the enemies threatened the death of his squad. Between his two choices, he made the more moral one. 2. His boss, when sending the drone on Harp, didn't send the drone based on direct defense like Harps' decision. He did it to stop a big target and didn't mind killing civilians to do it and that is way more immoral. 3. The most immoral is the setting off a nuke on purpose to kill a million people because it is purposefully killing. And we all know killing in itself is immoral.
@joshualee272
@joshualee272 3 роки тому
What are you talking about? Leo was trying to show the US the pain of war. The US has never losted thats why they keep war going around the world. Did you not see the whole orphanage of children robbed of their parents and families. Leo's way was the most moral because he would have stopped war all together. Harps way is going to continue the cycle so that more countries are terrorized by the US while they experience no consequences.
@olafcreed4726
@olafcreed4726 3 роки тому
@@joshualee272 "Leo was trying to show the US the pain of war." And you think nuking them is sending the right message? You should know retaliating like that never helps in these situations. Doing murder to solve atrocities and murder is not moral at all. Revenge is also not moral. The moral thing is when having the choice to elevate and be better. What Harp did at the end was most moral. The only way to stop atrocities is to get people to recognize their wrongdoing, because100% of the time the bad people believe they are doing the right thing. So it's either getting them to recognize it or to get everyone around them to recognize it so that they can put an end to it. > That is how every law works in every Country based on philosophies dated from < 1500 years ago. The only thing this movie fails at is the delivery of its own message. Because Harper's decision is never seen it is almost rendered useless. So it's clear the message was to, us, the audience, and not for encompassing the film. It's no Oscar movie. TLDR: There are other ways to stop war besides wiping people out or mass murder. You just have to think to be a better person then make real change, especially when tested.

@@olafcreed4726 this the YEAR 2036!!!!. The US hasn't learned a thing how many chances do they need to do better? Did you see when droids were killing the bank civilians? Did you see when they bombed the bank and they didnt care who was in the area? Did you see the orphanage? Did you hear when the lady who runs the orphanage said that they only want peace because they have lost so much to the point that everyday is like living madmax? The US made one advanced unit able to do so much damage by himself can you imagine a platoon? The US doesn't have to deal with the harsh realities of war because they never take a loss. That was Leo's plan to give them a blow so great that they would give up because of the pain and acknowledge the value of their lives and their enemies.
@olafcreed4726
@olafcreed4726 3 роки тому
@@joshualee272 Leo bombing the US would only prevent the US from making more Leo's, not stopping the war. For Leo's plan to pan out it would have to be proof of the enemies sent the nuke. And if that happened the US would retreat all their troops from the area and end the peace keep just to retaliate later on the enemy. You're falling for the mid-story line of Leo's point of view, without finding the way to authors' conclusion. And I don't blame ya because again the delivery of the message of the movie sucked. But it is still there, just watch the end again. When Harper realizes the bigger moral compass is not to kill people, it's obvious and cliche, but in moments of war, heat, and atrocities it can be hard to remember that simple yet very meaningful lesson.

6:00 The nukes won't go of because they just explode if the radio active core gets compressed to become super critical. To compress the core cemical explosives are placed around the core. The Nuke only explodes if the cemical explosives explode simultaneously (to compress the plutonium isotope core) witch whon't hapen if the nuke gets hit from outside. Also as far as I knew most nukes have a neutron "gun" witch further brings the core to supercriticality. This neutron "gun" whont be activatet if the nuke gets hit from outside. Thats why the nuke would not explode.

Nukes don't go off if you blow them up, to put it simply depending on the design you need and initiating explosive charge to either accelerate a small mass of refined fissile material into a larger mass of the same, or you can have an explosive charge around a large fissile mass detonated perfectly to create equal inward pressure/implosion. Either will initiate a chain reaction in a supercritical mass. In other words, an explosion that comes from an outside source imparts imperfect forces that will destroy the bomb rather than initiate a nuclear reaction. And now I'm going to hit Comment and probably end up on a list somewhere.
