the advantage: using light we can send multiple data at the same pipe by using different color, while the old one (electricity) is only 1 data per pipe.

The United States refuses to admit that it is trailing behind China. It has the superiority complex, is jealous about China's progress and will never be humble enough to learn from anybody at all. Only issue of photonic chip is to make memory element. Memory element is still slow. Reading data and writing to memorycell will bethe bottleneck.

What you say is true, so maybe that’s what they will need to focus on developing next. People said EUV machines were impossible to make and yet after years of research we developed EUV. Maybe the memory element might be the bottleneck so that’s something they can focus on

This is research. It's not like they're going to produce those chips any time soon. BTW, I remember reading about startups making photonic chips already a few years ago. I admire China's progress, but this one sounds to me like very inflated news.
