Fordlandia was an American styled industrial town built by the Ford Motor Company in the Brazilian Amazon rainforest in the late 1920s. The town was intended to provide a source of rubber for the company's automobile production. However, the project was plagued by difficulties, including disease, labor unrest, and poor management. The project was eventually abandoned in the 1940s.

Great video. I would love to have done what you’re doing now in my twenties but life intervened! Just a small note. I think the population of foreland is must have been more than 2000 as there’s 3000 people still there now. Perhaps you meant 20000? Thanks for the fantastic commentary. You deserve a wider audience. Ford was also a strict vegetarian which left the locals deeply unimpressed. One of the main targets in the riot - hilariously- was the time clock that managers insisted the workers used when coming to work. I know what they mean having been subjected to one of those myself in the past. 😂😂 they totally destroyed it.

Was the name of the man Edison? I heard in Places Video here on YT that about 100 people stayed there after Ford went from Brazil, so it would make sense that some American names would spread around the area.

You can go, & then find employment where you wind up. *NOTE* However, it likely could be low-paying “under the table” work. In Brazil-more-so than in other countries I’ve visited, established & legit companies often want you to be legally authorized to work. A tourist visa isn’t acceptable for that. But hey: it’s hard to save up money inside the USA. If you’re young enough to travel and then re-start life if-or when-you come back, I say: don’t let a lack of money prevent you from seeing the world.
