personally, i would’ve preferred that they kept the wants and fears thing from the sims 2. i feel like that gave so much more depth to the sims than whims in the sims 4. i literally never look at my sim’s whims since they’re usually so short term

Honestly, I don't think Sims 4 has a selling point for me except that I can actually run it and not have it crash all the time like in Sims 3.

When the sims 4 was announced for the first time i remember being so excited about it but now all i do in the game is create sims and build houses, i get so bored of the gameplay :/

I remember when I was in middle school and The Sims 2 came out. It was AMAZING and such an upgrade from the original. I thought playing the Sims until 6 AM without sleeping was just something I would do as a teenager and eventually grow out of...I mean, you can't play The Sims your whole life, right? Honestly they built up the emotions to be a lot more than they are. I remember the excitement when I watched this first and now emotions are SO easily manipulated it has almost no implication at all. My sims are constantly fine/happy/inspired. Even the wishes in sims 2 felt more impactful than moods in sims 4. The one thing they depicted accurately about moods is how quickly those emotions fade...

The bild mode and art style are my favorite things about Sims 4, but when It comes to gameplay I find it to be very boring. Sims 2 seems to have a richer background for each Sim and town. O wish we could have a mix of the two moving foward

I turned ahem... 30 the beginning of this month and I remember having the Sims 1 on PC, we had all the expansion packs hot date etc, I watch these videos now when cooking or getting ready for work as they are very entertaining, makes me wish I was a kid again!

Looking back on it, they focused on all the wrong things. Look what made sims 2 and 3 so fun. Your sims had interests unique to them, hobbies enthusiasm that got then offers from specialists, and even traditions that could run in a family, like how you can set your clocks to 24 hours Sims 4 is just like " be hip and cool, #swag" "Check out how cool this flirty painting makes you" They missed the mark by trying to shoot for a new crowd. Sure that's ok but they put all their eggs in that basket rather than being expansive and having many different type of sims to make and having something for all kinds of people. They forgot who made up their fanbase

The Sims 4 Build tool is powerfull and easy. Thats true! Dragging and plopping rooms is amazing and the sizing up and down is my favorite build feature! But it still lacks to much of what the Sims 3 build tools offered. Hard to believe but it's the truth depending on what your goal is. Basically it took you longer to build, but you could therefore acchieve exactly what you wanted. So much more freedom, creativity and detail in Building overall. The sims 3 offered more furniture and objects overall, but you needed less, because everything could be made to fitt with other objects in the game with CASt. As an architecture student those factors always pull me back to 3. In 4 I am sadly bound by what EA wants me to build and also where. I can't create a bar the way I want to, there are restrictions, like for example objects that I am forced to use. Even the stairs were only great until I realized that I could acchieve all that in 3 and then some more. The Sims 4 is still missing spiral staircases after 5 years! And then there is CAW in 3 too. I don't have to look at building shells in the background I can't customize or interact with and wich sometimes make my builds look out of place. I could build a house that slowly ages or build and play in different times than today. Or build something funky otherwordly for my aliens to live on, or underwater houses for mermaids, or houseboats or,... That is why I prefer to build in the game where I truely rule intead of the newest Sims Game. The Sims 4 is a pretty game but it is also very easy and shallow. Well I am frustrated with the Sims 4, I always hope they improve the game, but it's just not enough. In comparison to 2014 the sims 4 has vastly improved. But I still have to play 10-15 year old sims games because 4 just never reaches the others and there is no alternative. Well cas is the best in 4. Therefore that ist all I seem to be doing in that game nowadays. I would actually pay good money for EA to Update the Sims 3 with improved (2020) graphics and a better lighting engine as it stands now. Or even the Sims 2 for that matter...

emotions are alright for affecting sims relationships (not great for anything else) but what i really miss is when the sims had different levels of friendship for each other - you could have Marty fully in love with Sharon, but Sharon only had 30% love for Marty. Can we bring that back?? It makes it way more realistic and more of a challenge. It's far too easy to make friends/lovers at the moment, it's kinda boring.

I think the best thing about the sims is the graphics and customization. It’s a beautiful game and you can really do a lot with build mode and cas.

tbh rewatching the trailers just reaffirms to be that the sims 4 wants us to be able to create the stories we were able to in the sims 2 and sims 3 but chose introducing newer, less fleshed out elements for us to use rather than bringing back effective systems like the wants/fears lmao. like it's basically; sims 4: make stories!! players: ok can we have wants and fears?? sims 4: no!! only emotions :)

What sold the sims 4 for me since I bought it in 2014 was the customisation of the sims and the build mode. After being frustrated with the sims 3 buildmode for so many years when I saw the sims 4 trailer my first thought was YES! TAKE MY MONEY! What I hate though is the lack of customisation with the traits. I miss the sims 3 traits soo bad!!! And the colourwheel dude! Ugh, I loved them. So recommendations for sims 5, combine sims 3 and 4. That's it. That's all I want.

Those landscape/hanging plants are under debug in build mode! (use the bb.showliveeditobjects and bb.showhiddenobjects cheats) They must have used world objects instead of build object for that sneak peak. If you put them in your builds they're a bit wonky. Your sims will walk through them and whatnot.

When Sims 4 came out and I learned that there were no toddlers, I was like "its like we are going back to the sims 1 days" because both sims 2 and sims 3 base games had toddlers. Though I didn't have too many issues with no toddlers because Sims 2 made me loathe and despise toddlers. Seriously I hate and despise Sims 2 toddlers.

The build/buy mode, i’m not the builder type and the ability to place fully furnished rooms and manipulate them that easily is amazing

going from sims 3 to sims 4 after playing from when sims 1 came out all through 1 , 2 and 3 and then 4 was such a big change when this click and drag feature happened. i was amazed! and omg when i saw the build features i was just like "im dead" cos im primarily a builder in sims. with the recent stairs update i was just"OMG I CAN DIE HAPPY NOW." . When i saw the emotions part yer i was the same. The biggest selling point for me now is the building mode being that i am a builder and always have been, probs always will be.
