Omg, we had the exact same years- I started drinking at 15 and got in AA at 32! But, looking back, the relationship addiction was even worse in a way than the alcohol addiction. It was a soul crushing addiction. Feeling if the “ other” left, I wouldn’t survive! The little child within was terrified. I put up with things that were really bad! Married a raging alcoholic that beat me badly. Left him and married a raging sex addict that could have given me AIDS or God knows what! We divorced and I had severe panic attacks for over a year. Went down to 99 pounds with a eating disorder. Finally , with therapy slowly made my way back to some sanity. My childhood really messed me. Two alcoholic parents that should never had a child.
