The four-piece skirt is a classic model. Fashion comes and goes, but this skirt remains. This style suits many women of any age and emphasizes the figure, hiding flaws.
The most important advantage is the ease of tailoring, but despite this, the four-piece skirt looks feminine, strict and fits flawlessly.
To create a pattern, you need to take the following measurements:
1) Waist circumference (WT). The ribbon passes above the navel and this place is considered the narrowest on the figure.
2) Hip circumference (H). Measured horizontally, along the most protruding points of the buttocks, taking into account the protrusion of the abdomen.
3) Hip height. This is the distance from the waist to the hip line, approximately 18-20 cm.
4) Skirt length. Measured from the waistline to the desired length.
Using this pattern, inserting your measurements, everything is done to suit you. You need to start the drawing with a vertical line in the middle. From it, 1/8 OT is deposited in both directions, then, retreating 18-20 cm, 1/8 OB is deposited. These two points are connected and continue to the length mark.
- At point T2, you need to lower by 1.5 cm, respectively, on the sides from below, rise by 1.5 cm on both sides, so that the length of the skirt is uniform.
- One length of fabric is unlikely to be enough, unless it suits slender women. To be sure, take two lengths.
- All wedges are sewn together, leaving an open space for the zipper on one side.
How to sew a zipper:
- First of all, you need to insert a special zipper foot on your sewing machine.
- Then reinforce the edges of the fabric with interlining and smooth out the seams. I have a hidden zipper, its peculiarity is that the spiral on the reverse side is twisted towards the braid. Thanks to this, after sewing in, the zipper is practically invisible.
- To stitch it, the curled edge must be unfolded and stitched close to the spiral. First one side, then the other in the same way.
- For the belt, I cut out a strip 10 cm wide, attached it to the skirt, turned it over and stitched it.
- Where the button will be sewn, the belt is slightly longer.
- I hemmed the skirt.
If you make the pattern correctly, everything will fit perfectly.
