English speaking countries have referred to him as both Antony and Anthony (with the former being prevalent in America until the late stages of last century). Also listen CLOSELY; Ken says, "Did she come up with Anthony and Cleopatra." So it obviously was an acceptable pronunciation.

Once you just look at the year it couldn't be anyone else but those two. Mainly because few Roman women period made it into the historical record and far fewer spread beyond the realm of professional Roman scholars.

Battle of Actium was in the late summer of 31BCE, 11 months later (and within a week of one another IIRC, both Antony and Cleopatra were dead) so the question is worded correctly. The twins were ~10yo. There was a younger brother also, but only the girl survived into adulthood. Ptolemy XV (aka Caesarion) was executed by Augustus a few days, or a few weeks, we don't know, after his mother.

Why did she get credit for being right? "AntHony" wasn't his name, it was "Antony." I'm sorry but that's just incorrect.

Well, Anthony Hopkins and many other men in the UK, I guess, pronounced that name without the "th" sound. On the other hand, Marcus Antonius wasn't British, was he? His name is never spelled with an "h," is it? Hence, if you spelled it with an "h" you wouldn't be talking about a guy in the BCE. Isn't, in contemporary English, Marc Anthony a salsa singer? Wikipedia tells us not to confuse him with Mark Antony, the Roman guy. And other times the judges are such sticklers.

@@gnirolnamlerf593 So I did some extra digging after this and someone on Reddit pointed out that his name was *technically* Marcus Antonious. Then when Anglicized, both versions (with or without the H) are correct. Someone else also pointed out that either version of his name has always been accepted as indicated by the J! Archive. So for me, that settles it.

Doesn’t adding the “H” change the way the name sounds? Players in past games would technically get it wrong if it changes pronunciation

I suspect this is being accepted because it was an anglicization common in recent centuries, not because the ‘H’ doesn't affect pronunciation.

I agree. They're completely different people. While Antony was a politician and general serving under Julius Caesar, Anthony worked in a grocery store, saving his pennies for someday.

I believe it's because you can sometimes pronounce Anthony with a silent H, i.e. Marc Anthony

Because, in addition to the bets being made before they know the clue, that was a smart bet for Raquel. This was a very delicate wagering situation. Raquel had twice Mitch's score while Xanni had three times that same score. If Xanni bets to cover and gets it wrong, she falls to $1 below Raquel. If Mitch bets it all and gets it right, he ties Raquel. Ergo, Raquel can only bet $0 or $1, depending on who she thinks is more likely to tie her based on the category. No other bet is smart. She clearly studied what cost her last time!
