The original song is composed by Michel Berger and written by Luc Plamondon in 1978 for the rock opera Starmania. The song was performed for the first time by Daniel Balavoine, then taken over by Norman Groulx, Renaud Hantson, Bruno Pelletier, Grégory Lemarchal, Daniel Popovic, Laurent Bàn and Dimash Qudaibergen. The version of Piet Arion is produced, arranged and mixed by David Gerd Ogris.

I love Dimash. I'm one of his biggest fans. his vocal technique is incredible. he inspires so many singers, and me as well. I think we all would like to sing like Dimash, but that is not possible. we can console each other by reminding ourselves, everyone of us is unique in their own way! I love this song and it's about what sense we have on this planet. I learned French for this song and I tried to do my best and to make my own interpretation of it. I did not sing the song to be compared to Dimash. Dimash is my idol and he will always be the best in what he does! His spirit is a warm-hearted soul, fighting for peace and love! and like my idol, I want to give as much love as I can and wish everyone of you the best and much fun with this song.

Dimash is a product of intensive training and I guess sacrifice over many years, the result is astonishing.. Piet has similar skills but without the years of hard work...I like the "guy next door" vibe about him, down to earth, good honest caring man...I think Dimash is fantastic, however, this man is as good, if not better, in that he is accessible to his fans..

I can’t hold a note. I can’t sing. Therefore I am thankful that we have people like these sings for us. Doesn’t matter who. They give us goosebumps, touches our souls and our spirits. Why try to tarnish something pure and genuine? It takes a lot of effort and discipline to do what they do. Ty.

The Dimash fans trashing Piet are a terrible look for Dimash’s fanbase as a whole. I say this as a Dimash fan myself. Both artists’ renditions are incredible. This cover isn’t a comparison or imitation; Piet sang it in honor of Dimash because Piet was clearly inspired by Dimash’s version. That’s a massive compliment. Additionally, Piet included many original changes of his own to differentiate himself and make it his own style. If you don’t see it this way, you need to grow up.

Also - Dimash fans - please take 10 seconds to read Piet’s pinned comment where he talks about Dimash. If you still have anything bad to say after that, try thinking about how outside people view you, a representative of the Dimash fanbase. Piet, last night I listened to this song and your music for the first time. After a little investigation, I listened to Dimash for the first time. He is amazing of course, but I wanted to come back this morning and tell you that your rendition of SOS is so spectacular. You are the one that wow’d me. You have such passion and range. Dimash is very respectful to other people and I think he would be very ashamed if he knew that we as his fans are disrespectful of others. Even if we do not like this version, we should not offend this young man, who himself is a fan of Dimash.I want to be honest, I will always love Dimash more than other singers, simply because he has so much charisma that makes him so unique. But I also like other singers like Christina Aguilera, John Legend, Andrea Bocelli.

Me as a pianist, I run to the piano to check where I can find the highest note that you just sang( WTF). I did it twice... The first time because I thaught there wouldn't be a higher note in the song then that one. But then... What.... A modulation? No.... What the f....? I started crying when I understood you were taking it to a higher level. I was flabbergasted finding out that you nailed the highest B on the piano. I get emotional when confronted with talent that litterally overwhelmes me. Off course Dimash is a great singer - and he overwhelmend me too - but you are as talented as he is. And you took it far beyond my expectations. Thank you so much!

I'm french and I think both gregory and daniel's version are ''meh'' at best. They neither have the vocal range nor the voice to perform it like it was meant to. There are tons of videos out there easily outperforming them, being first to interpret it doesn't make it good.

Those who criticize him or compare him to Dimash, I don't understand the usefulness of your comments. As a French person who has watched a hundred covers of this song, it is undeniably one of the best. Whether it's the accent where we understand almost everything (while the French accent is very hard to master), the voice, the interpretation... what he brought to the song is sublime. A cover is made to add its own touch and that’s precisely what makes it unique. Dimash is excellent too, but if you want to watch his performance, watch there, but stop comparing other artists to him.

You guys need to really stop with the hate and comparing that your giving Piet. He did his best on this spectactular cover, and your all missing the point that there are men who are able to hit whistle notes like that. What happened to just enjoying the cover and giving positive feedback? I’ve listened to this song in Dimash’s manner a lot of times and thought nobody can sing better. But man that whistle at the end! My skin had goosebumps all over! Your version is definitely worthy of attention.

It's music, not an Olympian event to find the fastest or best, it's to be enjoyed, loved and appreciated by all who get the chance to find such wonderful singers. On the first hand, I would say the purpose is not to compare with Dimash interpretation. On the other hand I just want to thank you for your great work and your huge skill. For those who are comparing Piet with Dimash, please read Piet's description and his dedication to his idol. I am sure Dimash who already has a BIG NAME in the world will probably be happy to support or encourage someone who idolizes him. Why not support someone who has talent and is sharing with us. "Kazakhstan superstar Dimash returns to The World's Best stage and belts out a beautiful rendition of "Adagio" by Lara Fabian. This cover is incredible!!! What I don’t understand is people comparing Piet to Dimash when both singers are ridiculously talented. We’re here to support both of them lmao. I also don’t understand why people are criminalizing autotune. Like whether or not Piet is using it here, i don’t think it would matter? He still has amazing vocal technique I am just blown away!

Dimash's version was fireworks. Arion's was vanilla ice cream with a blend of mocha and a bit of nuts underneath. Dimash sang like a superhuman alien or the entire human race crying out in distress . Arion sang like an angel lamenting the distress of the human race. It's wonderful that amazing phenomena can occur in a rich diversity of colors and don't just come in one monotone. ❤
