While Joel Embiid scored 29 points, he was 0-for-5 in the fourth quarter and could not push his team to a victory. While it is only Game 1, watch as Colin Cowherd hammers the importance of Embiid needing to win playoff games and reach the NBA Finals. The Phoenix Suns struggled mightily, losing 120-95 in Game 1 to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Kevin Durant finished with 31 points, but Devin Booker and Bradley Beal combined for just 33. Colin looks ahead to what another playoff series loss would mean for KD, including why he is slowly losing his relevance.

I'm not a Sixers fan but this is incredibly stupid. All of the centers he mentioned were on Great teams, thus why they won championships. It's a TEAM sport. Also, the East has been way weaker. The Cavs went to the Finals practically every year since LeBron went back to Cleveland. They barely had any resistance. It's stronger now than it was 10 years ago.

I am a Sixers fan and he’s 10000000% correct. He forgot to mention he had butler as well. Embiid 3 straight playoff 4th quarters with 0 rebounds (going back to game 7 against Boston last season). He chokes and is visibly scared of the playoff moment. 7 straight postseasons.

Colin has a terrible memory. The East was significantly weaker in the non distant past. Toronto without Kawaii and Atlanta with Joe Johnson were both 1 seeds whereas MIL has won a title and are a 3 Seed.

Facts the top of the East when healthy is better than the West imo, but the West just has more depth. Celtics are a legit super team and the Bucks and Sixers if they were fully healthy would have the 3rd and 4th best odds to win the title after Boston and Denver. Even the "mid" teams in the East are solid, Heat are also banged up but we know what they are when healthy. Knicks are the toughest team in the league and got a legit top 10 player. Cavs are really good, even Pacers with Hali/Siakam are good. Top 7 in the East isn't at all weaker than the Top 7 in the West

Knicks have defensive stars. They let you play defense the playoffs. This team is like the 04 pistons except they have great 3 pts shooting and a superstar PG. Steph will never be where KD is a top ten scorer, who makes his teammates better, quality defender who never forced his game on any team, if all he cared about was MVPs he could’ve snagged two or three. Curry wins league MVP but not finals and we already know league MVP is flawed as Joker, Embid & Giannis have shown. Luka & Joker have ugly games, unathletic, & if not white no one would pay to see play & Luka’s too inefficient but learning from Kyrie, who is the show & even not scoring makes team better and leads to win! KD led a US Olympic team with probable HOFers Book, Draymond, Dame & I’ll give Tatum benefit of doubt as he may win a chip, although I don’t think he’s best on his team, that’s it and folks thought they wouldn’t win. KD gave GS whatever claim they have to a dynasty he owns the most important contribution to it and w/o him there is no dynasty and Wiggins was the only reason they won that chip a couple of years ago but gave Curry the MVP anyway.
