US spending was $916 billion Europe spending more than USD 380 billion while Chinese spending was an estimated $296 billion. ș Russia's military spending grew by 24 per cent in 2023 to an estimated $109 billion. That is the difference between state run weapons manufacturing vs private industry. When you are not focused on profits, everything can be optimized to be cost effective and easy to manufacture. Russia leads the world in cost effective weapons that work really well. Glide bombs and lancet drones are just two of the many examples where Russia is very efficient. Contrast that to the USA where a single missile cost millions and it takes us a year to make the volume Russia can make in a week.

One of the main tennants of the Russian defence doctrine clearly stated by both Putin and Shoigu some decade ago is to never allow full scale war on Russian territory ever again reminiscent of the horrific losses inflicted during the WWII. Pushing Ukraine after the coup, a country with roughly 60% ethnic Russians as population into NATO was the red line which NATO should have never crossed.

Nice to see the German Defense Ministry has woken up, the other European counter parts need to do the same. This is a ground war in Ukraine and the USA can not be reached by ground. The fire is next door to European countries, they should be completely involved in helping put out the fire instead of waiting for USA aide packages.
