Gilbert & Jessica's tiny home was built by Nomad Tiny Homes out of Austin for $68,000. They then relocated to the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California with the goal of creating an off-grid homestead. But their hopes were shattered when they received a visit from code enforcement. Fortunately, they were able to sell their land for a profit and then found a fully legal, beautiful corner lot in a mobile home park.

Things happen for a reason. After having a tree demolish our home and neighbors being there within 2 minutes to help us, I have been much more appreciative of neighbors close by and less concerned about my need for privacy. With yall becoming parents, I really think it was a blessing in disguise that your initial place didn't work out. Wishing you all the best with your newest blessing, River.

Wise young couple. I love the idea of tiny homes and it's 1,000 times better than having to live in an apartment, I would still find it hard not having my own land. Hopefully they can eventually move this to their own land and if they want, be able to add an addition or something like a garden shed/workshop. So good to be planning on only a 10 year mortgage. My husband and I feel blessed to find a foreclosure that lets us go mortgage free after the sale of our last home. After building 3 homes we wish we had done this much younger.

Actually you don't have too. I've seen some with lots of bookshelves for book collections or shelves for gaming stuff. Not to forget the closets for lots of clothes

That ginger cat is so humongously big. So gorgeous as well, got to be a Tom - luv him. When Rivers older, you can say he’s the fall cat instead of a traditional black Halloween one, because his coat compliments fall colours❤️. The dogs real cute too with those melting brown eyes: going to be a great family

Babies need love, nourishment and warmth. Baby rooms are more for the parents than the babies. (And to store all the unnecessary stuff). My daughter has a large bassinet (the one we kept her in as a baby) but ended up co-sleeping with their baby. They only need a few toys and will enjoy more playing outside making forts and running around. I loved your tiny house and dog Biscuit (perfect name for him!). Your philosophy of living with just what you need is great. I can only imagine the pain of not being able to stay on your land in your yurt. You bounced back and recovered really well. Maybe you can look toward buying land again and moving your tiny there one day, if you want to. But there is a lot to be said for living in a community with great neighbors. Great job. 💗🙏🏻✝️😀

Ok. Before I decided to post I read thru (most) of the comments to be sure someone else hadn’t already said this. But I had to laugh at the notion of leaving Austin and going to California when the reverse is usually what happens. But it looks doable going the tiny house route. River is precious! This TH is wonderful and much more affordable than many I've seen on the market, even used ones. If they could get away with not using that second drawer in the bathroom sink cabinet, it could easily be modified so the litter box is always in there (add a kitty hole on the side of the cabinet) and only needs to be out for cleaning. What a nice couple and a gorgeous location to be parked in. Bummer about code enforcement not allowing them to stay but I'm glad it all worked out for them.

Its so true that kids don't need much; if I think back, all I did was read books, draw with ball point pens I stole from my dad, and play outside with my sister. There were barbies and matchbox cars, yes, but still, nothing beats a good stick haha. One of our favorite games was walking in circles around the house on the wood beams that framed the mulching/hedges and the wood frame that held in little decorative white rocks around the pool to "stay off the lava". We would spend an hour walking around and around the house hahah

So smart - love the layout ! Love your practical approach for your house, for your daughter and for life! Your families will want to give the baby stuff - suggest money you can use for a zoo membership and other experiences you can have with River or they can have with River. Heck, movie tickets, tickets to the ballet, or ice capades - these are the things kids remember
