Many moons ago when I was in the Army I actually worked out of one of these on a deployment. It was a rare opportunity since I usually worked in an armor brigade and we didn't have any of these M1087s. Our commanders operated out of M577 command tracks. Put 4 M577s back to back, cover with a specially-designed tent-tarp and camo netting and bam - instant TOC. The blackout function was so that you could have white light inside with covers on all the windows and whenever anyone opened the door it would automatically switch over to non-white-light to preserve night vision for any soldiers on guard in the area as well as not light up the area for any enemies that may be scanning the horizon with night vision or flying overhead. You know, the whole noise/light discipline thing they beat into you in boot camp. These folks did an amazing job on converting this beast.

I met Zack and Crystal... also took a personal tour of Bantha. Super clean, well engineered truck and shelter... great couple of folks. Makes my LMTV look small... and that is a hard thing to do.

In my opinion if you want to have a movable tiny house.Then using an old army shop truck.Is the perfect canvas to do it.Because, half or most of the work is already done for you.And they just look freaking awesome!

Are they not awesome? Like kinda cool, sorta groovy, really neat and so much fun, just how everyone wants to be - sure buddy, awesomest dudes in town. Better not leave usa or they will be destroyed by the billions who simply hate americans because of the millions of innocent lives they have slaughtered to get cheap oil so that cheapshits like this can travel around drinking caffee. I love this thing. I'm a retired Air Force Master Sergeant aircrew member on EC-130E's . of my Air Force career I spent 4 years In a Tactical Unit driving around in vehicles like this . I would have never thought of this. But when i saw the slides bells went off. I just love it. You two have done an amazing job with this build.

Way too cozy for off the grid... So many things that can go awry. The poor guy has that look on his face that he's on the verge of tear down mission. Excellent workmanship ( perfect!) and very loving couple :)

Love that truck and he did a great job of keeping and using a lot of the original items while also adding the conveniences they wanted. I also love the fact that Zack is a fellow Plastics Engineer.

I really like what you both did with this build . I like the security features both on the inside and the fact you are higher up . Out eye sight of a peeping tom . I myself dont have the skill set to build one of these . Really nice job! And your right its nice to incorperate pieces from a familly member . Your parents had positve enjoyment out of thier boat . Wonderfully sturdy..."git out of my way" home on wheels! Nobody'll mess with that venicle without getting hurt in the process. Very nice couple with lots of courage and adventure in their hearts. Go, kids....bantha gets 'er done!!!!.... lol!!!! I loved the sort of high tech, no nonsense approach to wandering. Very secure environment with the more practicle approach to scenic bathroom experience!.... Amazing....thank you for sharing!!!!

Very interesting. It just doesn’t look or feel very “homely” inside because it is so industrial, but the functionality looks great. I wish they would have just slowly panned the camera to show a 360 view of the inside layout. Do they have closets somewhere and do they have a couch or something to watch TV on or do they have to use the bed? I’m also still curious to have seen what the inside looks like with the pop-outs in vs with them out.

W RD And yet he showed their large flat screen TV that had 2 computer screens underneath it and explained that he has his computer tower mounted behind the cab and they use their phones and separate hotspots to stream WIFI throughout the vehicle allowing all of their devices to connect to the internet. He put in a WIFI router for them to be able to access the internet anywhere because they work out of their “tiny house on wheels “. It’s helpful to actually watch and listen to the information given in these videos before making snarky comments when someone else has a legitimate question about something they didn’t show or talk about in the video.

This is a very good machine and seems well thought out. The M1087 is top of my list for a travel conversion. This couple has done a very good job.

I used to build these trucks, when i worked for armour holding. This was used as a mobile comand center (mtv=multi terrain vehicle). What you have is very unique.

This is one of the most incredible rigs I've ever seen. The thought that goes into this and the engineering is remarkable. I know these folks probably get sick of people constantly approaching them but I'd sure like to run into them sometime in the desert.

I absolutely love your home on wheels. I have custody of my 8 year old grandson and I would love to have a home on wheels and travel around during the summer to let him see how beautiful the world is, right now it's a dream, but hopefully one day it will be a reality. Awesome. You should switch the blue light to a soft orange as it doesn't stress your eyes and helped with night vision.

I used to work in these when I was in the Army! I got a lot of mixed reactions the many times I reminisced about my desire to convert it into an RV. I'm happy to see someone else had the same idea. Full disclaimer: I didn't really work on these much because they don't ever break down. The biggest thing that comes to mind is the filters for the CTIS.

Thirty years in the military and how many times did I look at our various vehicles, pods, containers and shelters and think... that would make a great camper! And there you have it. Me too man. I’m still in. Actually I’m a mechanic lol. Work on these trucks daily. My unit went to NTC in September of 2019. We had only brought camo nets and no tents to the box with us. It got so windy and the dust was kicked up so hard that we all piled into our “expando van” and 20 or so of us were piled in there sleeping. I’ve also slept inside my FRS(forward repair system).

I grew up sort of like this, on the road in a home in progress. I loved it though, compared to all the crazy motel rooms we stayed in before. Parking was the tricky and difficult part depending on what state and or town we were passing through. We were right in the middle of too short or too long. Had to get creative and make friends quickly. I like your alert setup for when someone starts moving something outside. I remember us turning off all the lights as well when something was up. I love the utility of everything! To this day, I'm most in my element, on the road.

Wow! My dream truck! And a good looking couple! I've spent many days on a Command truck as we called it in the Army. I think the expandable sides are great and the size overall is pretty generous. We used to park 4 of these trucks back to back in a cross shaped configuration, so the commanders and staffers would go from truck to truck to see how the battle was developing. You guys have made this combat command truck into a Range Rover/Land Yacht. Congratulations! You know how to travel comfortably and in style!

This is the same FMTV PLL truck I used when I was in the Army. It was a parts truck and a section for ULLS-G computer and enough space for my sleeping cot.

Have you ever thought of putting out some 'legs' for the unfolding expansions of the middle section? Would make the whole back a lot more stable. It could also be comprised of variable-length shafts, so you can adapt it to whichever surface you're standing on. Other than that, damn, what a retirement dream.
