I thought the movie was fantastic. Lara Jean is someone a lot of teen girls can relate to. She's simple, but not bland. I'm afraid of love and everything, just like her, but I love to fantasize about it. It's just relaxing I guess. It may seem like Peter is one of those guys that actually don't exist because "all guys are douchebags", but those nice guys are still out there. You just have to wait. So, yeah, it's not a dumb movie at all. I'm not a fan of cliché teen romance movies, but being cliché as a couple is better than one partner being toxic or something. The title itself is honestly heartwarming in a way. This movie was way better than The Kissing Booth, but I really love all of these Netflix Original movies so far that I've watched.

I thought the movie was sweet. Yes, it was kinda cliche, but it was very sweet. It was a nice break from those “coming of age” movies where everybody looks 27, with great hair and perfect clothing and a somehow extensive knowledge of sex despite the fact that they’re like 16. Lara Jean reminded me a lot of me in high school; innocent and pretty normal.

The book was ok in my opinion, but there's something I have to get off my chest. I am sick of the "not dating or kissing anyone in high school makes you weird " trope, that boils my blood. A good kid who never gets into any trouble and is a decent person "needs adventure" and ends up not sticking to his morals for awhile, then realizes he was fine how he was. But a delinquent kid is just "misunderstood" and needs friends who accept him. If you want to date a new person every week I won't judge you that's your decision, but don't act like I need to experience life, and make stupid mistakes.

The little sister in this movie grated on me. She was so unbearable, thought she was clever and funny, continuously slagged her sister for not having friends or plans despite every scene we see her in shes hanging with her sister so clearly has no friends or boyfriend herself

Y’all gotta realize there will NEVER be a rom com which won’t be cliché cause everything has already been done. The actors are actually great and this movie is way better than the majority of teen movies that have been released lately. Plus I think Lara Jean is actually relatable and you can definitely learn something from this movie which is don’t be afraid to love someone or show your vulnerability. I mean, what does The Kissing Booth teach? Nothing. At least this one has a message, of course it’s not the most original movie ever and there might be some flaws, but it’s not dumb at all.

Honestly the movie is predictable and cliche, but it has become my new go-to guilty pleasure movie. It was seriously so adorable !!

I have one thing to say about this movie. A teen romcom were you actually like the characters, and They aren’t just a group of assholes!!! Halleluja!

I'm not big on romance movies, but I thoroughly enjoyed To All The Boys I've Loved Before. But as any true bookworm would say... the books are better, I highly recommend reading them. It's trilogy, To All The Boys I've Loved Before, P.S. I Still Love You, and Always And Forever, Laura Jean. If you like romance books, you should read them, they are amazing.

I like how he edits out some of the main plot points, like that LJ kissed Peter first, or that they were totally making out in the hot tub, or that (biggest point here) said make up in the hot tub was recorded and while you could definitely see LJ you couldn't really see their bodies and context and all, it defiantly looked like they were doing the old *Devil's Tango* in the hot tub, which then got posted and she got harassed at school for it.

Tbh to all the boys I loved before was actually really good. Yeah, it was a bit predictable but like it wasn’t ENTIRELY cliché. I mean, the acting was good. The characters were relatable, Lara Jean wasn’t like oblivious and naive, and Peter wasn’t a dick, he was actually a really nice guy. And the story was understandable. She loved her best friend, he wanted to get back at his ex. They saw an opportunity and they took it. Maybe irl they wouldn’t “fake date” but everything else I could see happening.

calling peter and josh a plank of wood is selling them short. the character's show more of their personality through their actions not words. josh bought a plane ticket to see margot before she even left, call it over eager maybe but you can tell he's a loyal guy who cares about the people around him. look how well he gets along with lara jean's family. peter actually seems like a person, not a stereotype. sure he's a 'jock' but he never actually acts like a dick, when he gets the letter he says he's flattered and turns her down nicely. he is sensitive, and honestly emotional vulnerability is hard to come by. you said josh shows this quality too, but isn't worthy. however, we already know that latter isn't true. he got a love letter too, it's just he's 'off limits' because lara jean cares about her sister too much to hurt her like that.

They cut out some really important parts of the book: - Chris is way more flaky, and is rumoured to be promiscuous (keep reading, I'll explain more) - Peter and Lara Jean's first kiss when they were little wasn't during a game of spin the bottle. Peter kissed her, and Gen saw it happen. That's why Gen stops being friends with her because she thought her best friend betrayed her. However, this was also the kiss that resulted in Lara Jean's crush on Peter. - In the book, Lara Jean finds out that Josh liked her before he ever liked Margot - she finds this out after Margot and Josh had broken up. And she's conflicted because she likes Josh but she doesn't want to break the sister code with Margot. This is the real reason that she decides to "fake date" Peter, she wants to keep herself away from Josh and wants to keep herself hurting Margot. - The "sex tape" thing is the real reason Peter and Lara Jean break up, because Gen tells everyone that LJ & Peter had sex in the hot tub, and video proof goes viral online (it even becomes a meme). LJ breaks up with Peter because he doesn't deny it, he just doesn't say anything at all, meanwhile people are slutshaming LJ for doing something she never even did. - This sex tape thing is what brings Chris and LJ closer, because LJ finds out that the main reason everyone thinks Chris is a slut is because of people who spread rumors about her - and the guys she was with at the time would not deny anything because it made them seem cool. - After Peter and Lara Jean break up, there's an entire confrontation during a Christmas party where Peter comes over and Josh tries to stake his claim on Lara Jean - and I think it's about here when Lara Jean realizes that Peter's feelings for her are real. - Josh also kisses Lara Jean at some point in time in the book, which causes her to realize who she actually loves - Peter.

I actually like the themes of self-confidence, family unity and having fun. All of this with good looking actors! I'm sold!!

i wish they added a few scenes that would’ve helped develop the movie better. for instance, a scene that revealed the importance of lara’s scrunchie and why she took offense to see that peter had given it to the hands of gen, besides the fact that it was her “favorite scrunchie.” maybe her mother had given it to her before she passed... or the scene where peter goes to gen’s room and tells her they’re over. the audience will not easily believe what a character says. “show don’t tell” ya know?idk. i just feel like there were a few plot holes in the movie. but altogether i loved it

the only problem i really had with the movie was the letters were so hyped in the trailer and i thought the letters were going to be the roots of the movie. but when i watched it, the notes were a very small portion of the movie.

I still don't get why they're mad at each other and brake up when they weren't even dating.

Heck when I was in high School we didn't take any field trips matter fact no trips at all.

I know this doesn’t really matter, but it kind of annoyed me how even though it was so obvious who sent out the letters, the movie still tried to act like it was a mystery?? Like the scene before the letters got out was Lara Jean and her younger sister talking about how she never goes out or leaves her comfort zone and how that’s bad. Then the sister goes to her room and looks at the box, and in the next scene all the boys have the letters. And even if they didn’t show her going to the box, LJ’s older sisters’ overseas, her dad doesn’t even know about the box and would never have just sent them out, and no one from school had been to her house during the movie. Like who else could have sent them??

I actually really loved both this book and movie, and it was certainly a step up from "The Kissing Booth", when it comes to Netflix Teen Romcoms!💖 The only misstep I felt that they made was making Gen, Peter's ex girlfriend, too one dimensional, and her motivations against Lara Jean were too weak and implausible, and they never reconcile their friendship, as you might expect in stories like this. Other than that small nitpick, the character of Lara Jean felt so real and easy to relate to, that you can't help but love her!

The book does a better job of fleshing out the characters, especially josh and Peter but I understand your point of view. The movie isn't perfect but I found it fun to watch and overall pretty sweet. I agree also with what you said about Lara Jean. She seems like a more realistic portrayal of a teenage girl in high school

Can I just say what I appreciate most about your videos? You have a great way of saying "yeah, the premise of this is weird," or "there's a huge problem with this plot/character" or "if you think about it, this movie is really dumb!" But you do so in a way that doesn't make people (at least me) feel guilty for watching and enjoying those movies! It's like "I know this movie is weird, strange, even dumb, but I grew up with it," or "I like the cheesy-unrealistic Netflix/Hallmark Holiday movies," and some channels are all "if you like that, you're dumb!" but you have a "ok, let's point out these weird things, but if you like it power to you," So thank you for letting me enjoy my movies, but also enjoy poking fun at them as well.
