Why should the standards have changed from what they were 20 years ago in regards to sexual harassment? What is different about the harassment that happened 20 years ago from the harassment that happens today? What good would a private apology do at this point? The damage has already been done. The only difference today is that it sexual misconduct is no longer tolerated in the way it was in the past as much.

This society is getting screwed up, on one hand we’re fighting for women’s voice and empowering them but then now we’re saying that a grown women(Monica) should not be held accountable for her own decision or even that a grown woman’s opinions and decisions cannot be taken seriously. Btw just because your lover is someone in power or is wealthier, as often is the case, is not grounds for sexual harassment if the relationship doesn’t work out unless he threatened to fire her or abuse his power in some way. There is no evidence of that in this case. This “me too” movement though beneficial at first is seriously growing out of hand. It is actually eroding the strength and undermining the authority of being a woman. It is encouraging a victimization mentality which may be effective in getting compensation but takes away any respect.
