Honestly I drank for almost 16 years...everyday pretty much. Mostly in secret. Smoked weed for almost 18 years. I didn't really believe in God specifically, it was more of a higher power. Karma and learning about meditation or New Age stuff. My family believes in Sikhism...its how I was raised. 35 days ago I randomly just thought maybe I should pray to God in Jesus' name and see what happens. Maybe my alcohol addiction is a demon like Tom MacDonald says in Best Rapper Ever. So I prayed. I asked God to heal me and get rid of the demons. Im a brand new person now. I haven't touched liquor or weed since I prayed. Zero temptations so far. My ankle injury from 2 years ago got miraculously healed. My dog actually makes eye contact with me. There was definitely some evil shit inside me that isn't there anymore. I own a Bible now. I just started reading it 3 days ago! Praise Jesus 🙏🙏🙏

This is true- and God allows it. Why? Cuz the cure is to step into the pain our fallenness creates, to touch the real, the genuine. We push through the pain in faith, and the eventual reward is NOT a pain free life, but joy unspeakable and full of glory. Reporting live from 6 years sober and walking in the Kingdom.

I read a comment that said when you turn from God you're running with your demons but when you get close to God your demons are running towards you.

Well I'm the type of person who looks at a problem and finds the simplest way to eliminate it. First off there are a multitude of reasons. You are only looking in the wrong places. It can't rain all of the time. You have to have the rough times to appreciate the good ones. Life is a constant test(s). Some we pass easily, others we fail. You can't dwell on the failures . Rectify them. The reason there are tests is the journey to the answer . #HOG

I think most of us do, we just don’t care. Like Tom indicates in the song, being sober is worse in early sobriety. Often, we see the demons and didn’t have the coping skills to defeat them. It’s why most people relapse a few times before long term sobriety. We make bad choices to deal with that “sobriety sucks/is painful”, even knowing where we end up. It takes time to cultivate that faith and coping mechanisms while our brain heals, time passes, and we can see more clearly once the brain is functioning properly again. In my experience, most of us do see them as demons.
