It's not meant as a cleaner, it's your heating element that gets caked in limescale as it shows in the advert. You can't see the damage being done by limescale as the element is at the base of the drum

Hi Toni I have used Calgon on my new machine for over a year now and I have found s big difference in it especially when I clean the filter there’s not all that gunk and scale and seals are cleaner. I’m always cautious of vinegar bicarbonate and and soda crystals as they can breakdown parts in the machine I have found this out first hand. Nice to see you back xx

Happy Sunday!! 🌞 We have gorgeous sunshine here - I'll be getting the lawnmower out later!! 🙄😬 I always thought that Calgon was really for cleaning behind the drum and keeping limescale off the heating element - which is a real pain if you are in a hard water area. It's expensive though, so instead I always put about 2 or 3 dessert spoons of soda crystals in the drawer with each wash. This softens the water so that you need less detergent (and helps the detergent to work better) and therefore also helps to prevent the nasty limescale and helps the machine to live longer too!! Bonus!! It's cheap as chips too!! 👍 I get a 1kg bag from Tesco for £1. I clean my machine periodically, but also I always leave the door and drawer very slightly open after I've used it to air it and dry it out. I've never had a problem with mould, smells or other nasties, but perhaps I'm just lucky! I hope that helps everybody - I'm obviously not an expert, but it always works for me. Morning lovely thanks for the demo I think Calgon is for the bits we can't see but I don't buy it soda crystals and white vinegar for me once a month and after I have done all my weekly washing I spray the detox multi cleaner in the drum and rubber seal and wipe it all down and the leave the door slightly open looking forward to your next video have a lovely weekend xx

Hi Toni, Calgon is really for the heating filaments inside the machine more than anything, it gets rid of grime inside and clears limescale which would interfere with heating etc. Hope that helps xx

Hi Toni, I think this a mistake that all we do, those type of products are against the limescale, don't expect it to clean the door seal, you need to clean it manually like you did, any manufacturer will tell you this. :)

I used to use Calgon for my washing machine but stopped using because when I had the engineers over they advised me to use WPro Limescale and Greece remover which is recommended by the big brands whirlpool, Hot point etc. They sold me one at the time. Its one sachet a month been using for a year now. Anyway I don't / can't tell any difference but my machines fine still running 8 years specelly with a big family and boys with dirty muddy clothes. Clean the inside of the rubber door seal with cheap window cleaner spray and some kitchen towel BEFORE the service wash! Cheap window cleaning spray is great for most cleaning purposes, including car interiors. I love it and it leaves everything smelling fresh too!

Calgon tabs you add every wash with your clothes. You need to use Detol machine cleaner. Also you need to leave your door permanently open to stop the mold. Vinegar and bicarbonate doesn't work because the acid and alkali react with each other and do nothing.

I have found living in a hard water area is challenging both for washing up, washing clothes and bathing. My laundry doesn't really smell fresh whatever detergent I use. I am going to start to introduce a calgon tab and see if that will help.

Hey Toni! Love your motivational cleaning videos! But in regards to this video, I think your issue of mould/ or the black build up inside the rubber seal may be because the machine, as you said, is inside a housing unit. The remaining water in the machine has no where to go if the door is shut. I usually leave my machine door slightly open and don't have that build up issue but I don't have it in a unit either. Maybe after you've cleaned the rubber seal, maybe leave it open over night? Or dry the inside of the seal after the last wash? Just an idea. Sorry if this comes off negative, but must be annoying if you're trying to get rid of it permanently. But I think you only have the issue because the inside of the machine isn't getting any air.

Calgon is a descaler I live in a soft water area and so limescale isn't an issue for where I am If it is for you or anyone else then Calgon or similar will help I have a 7KG Bush WMNB712EW machine I personally use a small (2 teaspoons) of bleach in the prewash and main wash drawers and a drop of washing up liquid Then I run the machine on its hottest cycle I also remove the drawer and clean it and where the drawer sits and the jets above I also remove and clean the pump filter I don't have issues with build up or mould

Hi Toni I always use bicarbonate soda & white vinegar inside the drum & put it on a boil wash once a month it keeps it lovely & clean & freash 🧚‍♂️😍xx lots of love 💕

White vinegar is safe to use. But I recommend not to use soda and not to use bicarbonate, they both eat in to the aluminium of the drum axle. You can clean with 1 dishwater tablet, this works perfect and is completely safe. To decalcify you can use 3 Calgon tabs in empty machine on normal cotton 60degree program.

I think the higher the temperature the better calgon vorks but i did got my rubber same drty as yours. Look at heater if it got cleaned ro or is just a scrub heh tnx

Never used any of those products.. Always used like you say Toni. Bicarb and white vinegar. And leave the door open after a wash. Also take drawer out and clean it regularly. I never put my powder in the drawer. I throw it in the drum. Old remedies are the best.. If it ain't broke... Don't fix it.. As they say.. 👍💙

Hmm, isn’t calgon for long use prevention, not a one off cleaning? Your washer was already dirty I didn’t expect a calgon tablet to clean it in the first place. I think the point of it is to soften the water in every wash, therefore helping the scale not to form in the first place.

🥰Good Morning Toni I found this interesting my mam is having major probs with her washing machine her clothes nearly always come out with little black bits on them,and it’s me that cleans her washing machine I mean the rubber seals etc,and I have tried calgon or an equivalent,but I think the calgon is a behind the scenes cleaner it’s just unfortunate it doesn’t shift residue around the rubber it sometimes quite hard to get in there so I will definitely have to have a go with the bicarb/ white vinegar keep forgetting about this tip 🤦‍♀️so thank you Toni &have a lovely Sunday 🥰✨💖✨

All Calgon does is soften hard water. So if you live in a hard water area it will soften it to a degree and thus preventing the build up of limescale.

Calgon is to be used softening the hard water to reduce limescale in the drum heater that’s all it does

Also forgot to mention the rubber rim bit of my machine also gets really dirty after a muddy wash etc so I wipe after the boys wash mainly before I put in the next load. And yea the tablets /sachet cleans limescale grime behind inside the machine where we really can't see 😊

Try a hot wash with a few dishwasher tablets inside. *With no clothes inside.* That gets rid of gunk in the drum - the part you cannot see.

Calgon is meant to clean off the scum, if deposited in the machine when used with hard water. The water supplied at your house is possibly soft water. So that's why no results are there in your test. Hope it helps

It never worked for me either, I live in a hard water area,.. Once a month I pour in a cup of vinegar and half cup bicarbonate of soda, put it on a long hot (90°) wash cycle, this does wonders. I normally wash on 30/40° but once a month it's good to get the water really hot so it burns all the bacteria away..

I never believed in calgon never bought it until my friend have a very smelly washing machine and tried with a empty 90 cicle and the smell at home you cant resiste every door opened was smelling so bad while 90 degrease, then they so the advertising and tried a empty 90 cycke with 2 cups of liquid calgon...all the smell goneee like all of it and now they do it every wash use a cup of it imean the cup of the bottle of calgon liquid, and never hade this problems! Sny way i can say to you pur some paoer full of clorine bleach all niht long on the rubber and let it sit also keep doing some rine with clorine bleach empty machine and little by little your ruber became new agai, you can simply prewash your whites with clorine bleach and that will keep it clean us new

Im sorry your washing machine look horrible, im an italian guy tecnichian, first of all stop using vinegar that is corrosive, use citric acid instead, stop using baking soda, at 60 degrease it will create a residue much more harder than lime scale! I give you the receipt for really clean your machine! First wash cotton 90 2 dishwasher tablets, second wash cotton 90 150ml of clorine bleach, tirth wash 250 grams of citric acid for remove any residue of lime scale! Repeat the procedure if it dont look clean at this point, amd but the way, wash in 40 minimum and 60 for towels bathrobe, 90 for white, it will keep also your machine clean, but use only powder detergent this black stuff is just the residue of liquid detergent preservatives and silicons, also very difficolt to biodegease! Use powder, it doesent contai ghis nasy stuff but contain oxygen hat gona disinfect your clother and washing machine! You will notice the difference of the deep clean with the powder and your machine will last very longer! Butnthe way calgon is a very good product, but youncant pretend it will clean all the nasty stuff inside of your machine from years of washing in wrong way i will say!
