It was good but wasn't the best one for sure. Because of how low the shot was it could have been stopped by better defenders/goalkeeper. Most of the other ones on the other hand were perfect set pieces that came right in to the top left/right hand corner of the goal. They were simply unstoppable.

Plus he faked kicking the balm somewhere else.

Physics play a big part. But the technique is flawless. The magnus effect isnt a simple thing to do. Successfully scoring a goal using physics of air resistance shows how football players think outside the box.

@@djfunkychicken that's a mistake cause these players did not had the modern means to train nor the time because salaries or bonuses from teams where practical so low that had to work a proper job and play ball at their free time. Remember my father who hung out with these times players to say that they got very little as compensation e.g a plate of food. So it was even harder for the players in 50's or even 60's when football was slowly developing to reach their top of their abilities.

Purely to the evolution of the game.. any amateur goalkeeper today has more understanding and knowledge of his role than what top keepers did in 1940. I don't mean they didn't have skills or athletic agility.. but it wasn't until Lev Yashin in the 50's that saw keepers come off their line. Every sport evolves with time.. from technical aspects.. to recovery and rehab. It's trial and error that takes many decades of fine tuning. I'd love to see how much of his team mates were in on the 'set up for corners'.. yellow cards didn't exist blocking keepers vision or attention ??? Without anyone in the goal.. scoring directly from corner with no bounce takes a fair bit of skill.. but put 10 players and a keeper that can use his hands??? Sukru Gulesin scored 226 goals in his 15 year career.. 32 scored direct from a corner (15%) I don't know man.. seems odd

My view was referring more to actual players defenders midfielders and forward offencive ones rather than goalies. Anyway your point about goalkeepers is absolutely true and their training also has evolved rapidly to more advanced levels although I think that those times also they were more gifted than of today's. Excellent example the case of Lev as Dasaef. Also great Dino Jof.
