ECT or electro-convulsive therapy is still used within the UK to treat certain mental health conditions. It is very effective for severe depression and can sometimes be used for schizophrenia/psychosis. Although it sounds terrifying, the actual treatment can be very beneficial for people! Also, the 'shock is very exaggerated in films etc, and is actually often a small twinge or controlled seizure! The patient's are also put under general anaesthetic and given muscle relaxers to make them as comfortable as possible during treatment

I only really know some things about some of these though, and I haven't seen an addition in the comments yet: 1) MK Ultra experiments worked, and they used those results. If I remember right there was a dude who claimed to have it used on it not as a study but to turn him into a weapon. They def didn't shut it down when they claim to have 2) Stanford prison experiments wasn't just psych students. People chose whether they were prisoners or guards - it was also advertised to ppl in the community, and they described the type of guards they were looking for. So it's no surprise that people looking for power trips went and got their kicks. A recreation of the experiment where ppl didn't get to choose their roles proved to be much more egalitarian where there was a lack of power trips and abuse. The guards helped the prisoners riot and share resources in that one. And these ten don't even cover some of the more horrific things the US has done, in experiments or studies (I.E If I've got my facts straight, lots of our nutritional standards come from starving native American and Canadian kids in residential schools to get the bare minimum numbers of nutrition someone needed to survive), which is on par with what we know about Japan's WW2 studies (Whom... I don’t know if this is said in the video (haven’t seen it yet) but in Waltham Massachusetts there’s an abandoned state hospital/mental hospital that was for mentally ill babies-elderly that used to do radioactive experiments on those who lived there (there was a story about tricking children into eating radioactive cereal as apart of their “science club” ((the children had no clue and there are the survivors accounts on UKposts if you can find them)) and it was sponsored by MIT and Harvard. The story messed me up so bad that I refuse to eat the brand of cereal that was fed to them). The town has tried to claim rights to the land to tear everything down and build the new high school there but due to certain unsafe tools (possibly radioactive ones) and possibly even people being buried in the ground it wasn’t allowed. They have also put on drive through light up attractions throughout the grounds during Christmas.. it was super messed up and felt very sad just knowing what we were driving through.

The stanford experiment get grossly misunderstood, the study wasnt people just following roles, but rather gave the guards no limitations and the study proved the logic of "Absolute power currupts absolutely" not that people in roles of power will always be currupt and abusive.

The radioactive iodine travels to the remaining (cancerous) thyroid cells which are left after surgery. The radioactivity causes those cells to die but isn't strom enough to cause cancer. This effect is also the reason why you should consume a big ammount of iodine after a radioactive event, so the thyroid is saturated with non radioactive iodine and the radioactive iodine originating from the radioactive disaster will not get stored in the thyroid and cause cancer (in that case the dose would be radioactive enough to cause cancer).
