Great tips, Kevin. Another tip is that you can set to night mode even in the daytime. It may make the maps easier to read with slightly better contrast between roads and background.

Thanks for the great tips. During my stay abroad, I always carried Google Maps with me. Whenever I left my hotel and needed to move from place to place, this map was indispensable. It gave me directions on which train to take, which platform to wait on, and what time to leave. Without it, I would have stayed in one place day in and day out. If you want to travel the way you want, learn how to use this divine app.

That was a tremendous presentation Kevin. I have only used Maps in the last month or so and am very much a beginner with it but I am very impressed when comparing it with paid for navigators a few years ago - it trounced them, is free and integrates so well with search, even when using offline maps and having no internet connection. I shall try some of your tips.

Excellent review. I knew a lot of it but a useful refresher. PLUS... I totally couldn't figure out how to make offline maps work and this was FANTASTIC!! I have a huge adventure trip coming up with multiple days of no cell connection. This will be an enormous help and augment my paper charts (maps). Well done!!

You will find most current technology & tools are 10X more efficient & helpful than 90% of users. Maps, text to speech, email banking bills management. Want more proof? Watch carefully at self-checkout stations. They can take a 45 second transaction into a fumbling bumbling 5-10 minute process. Average people are horribly inefficient w time & nuances of adopting technology.

For electric vehicle drivers, there are some options under “settings”. You can select “electric” as engine type and if you also select “choose fuel efficient routes” it’ll route you the best way to get the most range. You can also configure the type of chargers you want the map to display.

#21 ... once you've setup a trip with google maps, you can share the trip progress with other people by sending them a link. They will be able to pinpoint your location and by extension know your arrival time in real-time. very useful video, btw.👍

Hi Kevin. Really enjoyed the video. I use Google maps to find the best public transport options both at home and abroad. I recently returned from Rome, Italy and Maps shows the best Metro/Bus combinations together with times and routes with options. Invaluable, especially as it is otherwise almost impossible to get bus maps either online or in paper form.

Yo Kevin I have noticed a great improvement in your content in the last few weeks. I am not saying that your previous content was bad, but now it has improved drastically. Even the tutorial that I know are not going to be useful for me or I already know those things, I still watch them because of your quality content. Please keep up this good work. I know you haven't getting more views lately as you were getting in the previous videos. But I personally enjoy them. Just keep up the hard work some day your views will definitely boost up. I also know that you have given your self a due dat of somewhere around july of 2022, for deciding whether to continue youtube or go back to your normal job. But what ever decision you take. I like how Google calendar and Google maps integrate seamlessly. When adding an appointment that includes an address or coordinates ( I use coordinates often as I don't live in a city. Some addresses are way off), Maps will automatically warn you 10 minutes before you need to leave for said appointment (based on your current location and traffic).

Add A Stop feature is very helpful. I moved to a different state and naturally unfamiliar with the area. I can enter all my errands (stops) and rearrange for the most logical/efficient route.

Hi Kevin. Thanks for this handy list. I enjoy creating custom maps but I've never been able to figure out how to look at the map of attractions I want to visit while seeing where I am located at the moment. I guess what I am wondering is how to overlay my Saved Map where I've added points of interest over top a "live" map that shows the ever-helpful blue dot. Having to toggle back and forth eats time and gets confusing. Thanks for any help!

A trick as to using Google Maps is to check out a neighborhood you are going to like for a motel. Before you book or even go into an area, you can see if it has by its noisy, high traffic businesses and other signs if someplace you don't want to go to.

What I like to do on Maps is make sure that the opening hours of businesses in my area are correctly entered, by just opening a store info card in Maps and then use the Suggest an edit option.

Great tips, I also use it to check hotel price, type hotel on the map, you will see price of most hotel, and when u click it, he also show you the price on each booking website, and try to find the lowest rate

Very interesting and informative, I use street view when planning a motorcycle trip. I can look on a map and find what looks to be a great route only to be disappointed to see that it is not the quiet country highway I thought it was. However with street view I can see what it really looks like and choose. My riding buddies always let me pick road trip routes because I've been a map freak all my life, even as a kid I would look at maps and "travel". Now with Google Maps I am "The Man" !!! PS, I hope none of my buddies see this video or my secret is shattered 😉 Thank you Master, a thousand times.

I have “saved parking on” and “remember location history” and noticed Maps doesn’t always pick up on my parking spot or location. By far the timeline is my favorite feature. Someone accused me of lying about how often I go to this particular running trail. I told them I go daily and have been since June 2021 and since my location is on and has been since turning it on in November 2020 I showed them that I indeed have gone to this trail everyday since June 2021 and also show them I’m not lying about the amount of time I run and the miles I run

Great tips, Kevin! I am wondering if you can do a video on how to add icons in Google Maps on Macbook and iphone 13? Both devices have been updated to the most recent IOS. Examples of the icons would be a picture of food (for restaurant) a wine glass (for bar) etc. that you can add or change by clicking the paint can to the right of the favorited item. I know this exists but despite uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome, it did not add the icons. Would love to use these for my upcoming Italy trip to easily see what I've saved for each city as restaurants or bars on the map. Thank you!

Hi@@KevinStratvert, thanks for taking the time for taking my suggestion. Everytime I have guided my friends and family to create two different user accounts on the Windows OS computer system. One that has admin rights and the other one that does have admin rights and both being password protected. I suggest them to use the the regular user without admin rights account on a regular basis to avoid something being installed like viruses or anything. If you feel that's something useful for all, I would like to see the video for it from your side. The account that has admin rights is a local account and the one without the admin rights can be connected with the Microsoft account. What are your thoughts about it? Thank you, Mehbad

I’m having issues with trying to navigate using saved labels. Whenever I type it in the location doesn’t show up so I end up having to type the address. I even fill out the note section as well but google maps on iPhone doesn’t seem to be picking it up. It does however show addresses save under contact cards from my phone. Please advise. Tip: By adding addresses to your Google contacts, they will show on your map. You can also search for and navigate to them by name. (It generally takes a few mins to sync after you add one).

Hi Kevin, very very useful thank you. I have worked a little bit with google street view, and wondered if its possible to make google play the rute for me virtual on the screen? I know I can click with my mouse and move on with the map lowest on my screen and the street view pictures on my top which is very useful - this way I can "play" my bus driving rute at home, but can it be played virtually too?

Hello. I'd like to have "+ -" zoom buttons available for use, on all Google maps. That way, I can pick a spot, and press plus to zoom out in increments, or minus, to zoom in. May I define the increments, 25 miles per touch, 100 miles, etc? Thanks.

1:13 time line had saved my dad's life. I was able to answer the doctor's question on when my dad had a stroke because he said he felt it come on a couple weeks ago at "X" place. I looked up when he was at "X" place and was able to give the docs a specific time. So idc if time line is creepy, it was very helpful for my dad and I.

Hi Kevin, I see how to change a route by clicking and dragging the blue line and I've done that often on the computer. What I cannot do is send that modified route to the phone. I can send the route to the phone but I only get the start and end points, and the phone calculates its own route again, not the modified one. Also it is difficult to change the route on the phone.

Thanks Kevin. Just found you today. Great stuff. We have two streets with the same name in our neighborhood, one EAST and one WEST. People are continuously going to the wrong locations in either direction and sometimes our packages get delivered to the other location - for 12 years now. I've tried to fix it in Google but............... How does one get the two locations labeled correctly?

Few months ago i discoverd that Time travel street view feature. I was watching a very small town of U.S and saw street view. And i was surprised that that town had street view since 2007. I could litrally time travel that place and see different version of that place in different years.

Obviously there are different versions. I wanted til use the function that automatically saves my parking spot, but that doesn't exist in my version. Also, several functions are very well developed in the US, but I sometimes look at cities where I can use Street View in only 1 or 2 streets in the whole city. In the US it seems like every small alley is mapped. That's not the case in the reste of the world.

I wish there was a way to use Google maps to plot a drivable route, from which I could then apply street view to create a drive lapse so I could preview the route as if it were a video. This would be helpful for previewing a route before traveling in my motorhome. Ideas?

search along the route, once the destination is defined (or even after navigation starts), the little mag. lens on the right can search spots (gas, coffee shop...) along your way to the final destination.

Hi very nice to listen to what u say. Here is tip. We don't have to go online while navigating. Just set the route and switch off ur internet after a minute or so this will save ur internet and also offline shows thevexact route to ur destination.

Nice presentation, but HOW do I see an angular aerial view, or birdseye, like Bing used to feature? Once could zoom around from all angles and see a bulding AND its walls from all around. Very lifelike. Did Bing stop this? I tried their "birdseye" on Palo Alto airport. Straight down only now.

Thanks for a great video, but unfortunately the one tip I was looking for to find was not described. I would like to know how to backtrack my route. Say I drive from one little town to the other using specific addresses and I would like to follow the same route back. Instead, it starts offering me alternative routes and it gets very confusing. How to use "take me back the same way exactly"? thanks

is there a way to keep the volume at the same level when using the voice navigation? I've had SEVERAL times where the volume suddenly drops, usually when I really need to know where to go. Very frustrating.

i wish it will give you an option to add gas stations for long trips that you can setup within every few miles instead of adding them along the way. so far i have to research them and save them before heading out.

You talk about marking where your vehicle is parked at understood… however, you do not touch base on what you do or how you get back to the vehicle… ?or if the marked parking spot removes itself or you have to remove it once you get back to your vehicle. Or if you can use this feature in a parking garage, more information is needed for people that are not familiar with this feature. Thank you, Thomas.

Thank you for this. How do I clear all the Google info that blocks the map " food, gas, latest in this area" sometimes I can't see half the map. I'm going nuts here.

Thanks for the tips. I wanted to know about the switching the ADD STOPS function. Didn’t know how to move them around. I’m a delivery driver at a new location so I’m not familiar with the area, but this is going to help. Thanks again!
