Really Spirit in the Sky was much more hurt by the jury than Stefania but the only reason why Stefania is #1 here is because it got an insanely high televoting score.

Probably should add “Outside of top 10 in jury votes” as a criteria. Top 5 in jury votes isn’t actually hurt if you think about it.

It feels like some countries get this same treatment every year like Italy, Russia, Serbia, Turkey... Here's a video idea for example from year 2009-2022. seeing how many times juries put a country above televoters in semis and/or finals (or vice-versa), and then ranking them (in percentages or like sport score 5-8). That will show trends of some countries sending crowd pleasers and others sending jury friendly ones, or some countries being hated by televoters or jury ;).

Love these videos but IMHO the title should be "Top 50 Songs HELPED by TELEVOTE the Most in Grand Finals" or something to that effect. Vice versa for the other vid. :)

I guess I should clarify once more. This is basically a video of the biggest difference differences in the televoting and the jury voting scores, but only those songs that did better at the televote. I could have named it that, which would be the least controversial title but that's too long. I needed something really short. And clickbait-y, sure. While still being more neutral and positive towards the songs than "overrated", "underrated", "favored", "killed"... You can tell I've tried a lot of options but if someone's got a better one considering those criterias, I'm all ears. And since the idea for the top came first and the title later, then no, the idea to just change the method is not the solution because the video like this still needs to exist and to have a name. But I have tried a few other methods before (like years before) to possibly make such versions as well, but I didn't like any of them more than this one. Some of them just went too far and got so complicated that it wouldn't be entertaining for most people. But here's my take on the two most popular suggestions. Differences in the televote and the jury rankings. First of all, there's a lot less varieties in placings as there are only 25 or 26 of them in the final, so there are lot of ties which I usually try to avoid. And that doesn't happen in the video here. But that's kind of a minor thing. What is important is that I think scores matter more than rankings. While yes, jury rank songs at first, but at the very first step of calculating each country's jury score it is converted into points. And in extreme cases you could have more points in the jury vote but ranked lower in the jury vote than in the televote. But your rankings don't matter at this points. Only your points do, at least in the current system. Saying that, I still might try making that one, but it would be to complement the method above, not to replace it. Another one is to simply divide the bigger score (televote in this case) by the smaller one (jury). That leaves a question of how to deal with those that got 0 points. I guess all of them are on top automatically? Even if you got 1 point in the televote. Or maybe you even did get 1 point in the jury and 20 points in the televote which makes a huge difference of x20. You could say I can just discard such entries. But until what point, where to set that barrier? I try to make such statistical videos as objective as possible and that means no artificial barriers, only those that were made by the formula itself. That's why the winners weren't excluded here as well, because there is only a few of them and it wouldn't drastically change the video but it's still fun to see how they compare to the rest. Basically, I tried the dividing method and failed because it got messy.

Sometimes I think what are the juries watching because it not the the same as us all. I know they watch the rehearsals but still, in my opinion giving Michal Szpak only 7 points was a crime. that guy is amazing. Color of your life is my all time favourite song.

I think it should be counted as their position in the televoting/jury ranking instead of quantity of points, because the way the points are given are not the same for each category. See Ukraine this year for example, they were 4th with the jury, not at all far from the 1st place, but because they had more than double the points in televoting, the difference looks huge when looking that way. In reality, they just jumped 3 positions. This is no big difference, they were not "hurt". It's different than Moldova 2022 or Norway 2019. Moldova had a 18 PLACE DIFFERENCE! Norway had a 17 place difference. So counting the points is not an accurate way to do this video, in my opinion. When Fuego was in the beginning I thought o.O wtf..... It was fifth with the jury and second with the televote, that's not very "hurtful"...

the publc voting has good taste, many of my faves are in there. . Even Alexander Rybak is in there. I don't understand why City Lights and Fatto Niente didn't get higher jury votes these two songs are very well written. Congrats Stefania.

one thing this also really shows to me is that the songs i remember most from different esc years is often not the ones praised high by the jury with high jury scores but the ones with high televoting scores, the ones the people loved, not the juries.

Shum, In corpore sano, Trenulețul, Party for everybody.. They deserved so much better. We almost never get these uniquely "crazy" entries to win, if we ever did. Käärja this year had a chance but yet again defeated by the standard pop music. Verska also had a chance and didn't get it. Hatari yet again. I want one of these entries to win for once, and this not to be for political reasons (Ukraine 2022). The only one we got was Finland 2006 and it's almost been two decades since.

You really can’t count Ukraine in 2022 as their televote was extremely over-inflated due to the war and the jury most likely voted the way it did to balance out the unfair advantage they had in the televote. Keiino is still the number 1 spot on this list.
