Safety is just one point of many and lane discipline doesn't change the fact that the probability of accidents, injury and death increases with higher speed. There have been many accidents due to high speed differences between lanes. Look at their neighbor Austria. According to Destatis, 2018, there are over 50% more accidents on the German Autobahn compared to the Austrian Autobahn. And 65% more casualties.

John Doh as far as safety is concerned, you can look up the statistics yourself, Germany’s annual fatalities caused by traffic accidents is actually quite low compared to other developed countries. As far as pollution is concerned, everything causes pollution, so let’s stop doing everything and sit in our homes according to your logic. Climate change is a part of nature, deal with it.
