No issues here in the Philippines, I moved in 2016 and never ever felt this either in Davao, Manila or Bacolod. However, some foreigners act as if they are with privilege and tend to look down on locals and then they pay for it.
@booboo6714Місяць тому
Do any Americans here think a drunk vulgar stranger touching the butts of your female friends without their consent and belligerently kept going on despite being repeatedly warned is free from negative consequences in the US? Do Americans think this happened because we belong to an "inferior' society? The arrogant American tried to open the suspect's car door before he was shot. Mass murder for no reason is almost a way of life in the US. Why would an incident like this paint my society into a wild wild west picture? Who's wilder?
@urbangypsy6557Місяць тому
Although we Filipinos love to party we're still really quite conservative. You just can't go around touching anyone's butt, male or female. It could get one in trouble.
@elderdwaynehull5377Місяць тому
I stayed in the Philippines for 6 years off and on since 2016, and never had that problems, respect works 2 ways. And stay out those night life on the street. If you are in that life problems will come.
@TonyAsiaYoutubeМісяць тому
You are right
@oneg173Місяць тому
Very true. If you are into nightlife, you are 'dead man walking' - either thru violence or liver/kidney problems. Better invest in a nice memorial/cremation plan so as not to cause too much inconvenience to your loved ones.
@flip1sbaМісяць тому
That was still an ISOLATED CASE! The American tourist was also being disrespectful to the locals. But again, the rapper who shot the tourist made the wrong decision and has to face the consequence of his actions.
@TonyAsiaYoutubeМісяць тому
Everybody made a wrong choice that night.
@achillescane7380Місяць тому
The guy that got shot desrepected a local girl and what happened is a reminder that we Filipinos do not allow people to just bully us around whether being done by a foreigner or local..You seem to picture us Filipinos as ?!?!..you should have also mentioned the reason or cause why ..we are a peaceful people just do not provoke us.
@eg8343Місяць тому
That applies to any part of the world even in US. Stay lowkey, respect and be cautious no matter what, no matter when, no watter where. Violence is everywhere.
@TonyAsiaYoutubeМісяць тому
You're right.
@Hale-BoppМісяць тому
Remember being a tourist from another counrty is not a Privilege. Don't look down on the locals thinking you're entitled to do that because you're a foreigner and you're above them because your money is Dollar, a Euro. You have to respect the country and the people you choosed to visit and they'll respect you back.
@TonyAsiaYoutubeМісяць тому
You're right
@Gerald-tc4bjМісяць тому
Great advice! To avoid confrontation, it's important not to interfere with someone's partner or friends, regardless of which country you're in. We Filipinos welcome everyone with open arms, but it's also the responsibility of foreigners to respect our culture. Respect goes both ways, so as long as you're not unnecessarily causing harm, you should be fine here. And rest assured, Filipinos are always ready to lend a helping hand when needed.

40 plus years of combined military/ Security/ Bail bond enforcement (Lions and tigers and bears, Oh my) I agree with everything you said. I am retiring to the Philippines soon and de-escalation is almost always the best course of action. Just staying out of trouble areas is the biggest thing to know. Situational awareness. Learn the language!

Our national anthem ends with the phrase, when abusers/oppressors come, we will die for you. We are very hospitable and friendly, but if you stick your chest out like a mighty man, you are in trouble. Just see how Pacquiao beat up those bigger than him. What you say makes a lot of sense. Pinoys are kind of reverse. In other cultures, the weak get trampled on and the strong get their way. In Filipino culture, we take care of the weak and fight against the strong even if we die. In Korean War, 700 Pinoy soldiers defeated 40,000 Chinese and North Korean Soldiers. In the Middle East, a platoon of Pinoy UN peace keepers disobeyed their Indian Commander who ordered them to surrender their barracks and fight and killed hundreds of Al Qaeda who surrounded them and when their ammo ran out, they walked across the desert to escape. During Covid-19, several Filipino doctors and nurses all over the world gave their lives to care for the sick. Maybe our national anthem has put in our minds to fight for the weak and resist the strong.

That American guy didn't die for no reason at all. He disrespected a girl and he was confronted by her male friends. I read in some comments that the American guy is an MMA fighter. The rapper who shot him said that the American guy was bastos. Filipinos are very respectful especially towards foreigners. But disrespect the Filipinos and you might be paying with your life.
@wakojako41Місяць тому
Thank you for giving a good advice, use common sense. When you go to other countries, be respectful and just have fun. 🙂👍
@oneg173Місяць тому
Remember having fun also means . . . for hard drinks - one shot only and nothing more or for beer/wine/champagne - one glass and nothing more Important: To save your liver/kidney, don't forget to drink at least 500ml or better yet 1 liter of plain water to wash off the alcohol.
@MsVroegeМісяць тому
I think the guy was disrespectful, the American guy was touching's other guy's butt that's why the rapper in Cebu shot him and the other guy that kicked the American was the boyfriend of the girl..

@urbangypsy6557Місяць тому
That's good advice you said about not going out so late at night. Bad elements here move mostly at night. Drug wars, buy bust operations, etc..that's why curfew usually starts ten pm. Avoid the witching hours is the best way to avoid trouble. I agree much with your content.

@aggierowe9574Місяць тому
@@TonyAsiaUKposts That is the conclusion I came to, not to mention it would cost a fortune to ship it from the eastern US
@oneg173Місяць тому
Sorry, if you are into luxury cars and high performance cars, the Philippines is not for you. Even if they are used, they are taxed so aggressively that for the same amount of money, you could easily buy 4 units of the same model. One of my cousins found that out the hard way. He abandoned it, and since the warehouse is near the sea, rust ate it up and it is now unrecognizable.
@aggierowe9574Місяць тому
@@oneg173 yikes! Yes, I agree. I am going to sell both my cars or give them to family before going there and downsize. I did notice when watching a ton of YT videos that there weren’t Lexuses/BMW on the roads, and I would not want that headache. It is truly a different culture and way of living. I could never imagine having a driver yet I see that in the Philippines it’s actually more practical and safe than trying to maneuver all the traffic and roads by myself.
@turagsoy6719Місяць тому

Living the rapper attitude and lifestyle including carrying a gun and just itching to use it rather than being a level headed human being and sorting it out.. really low intelligence to begin with being the Native Ph..add the above recipe and the trend will most likely grow as more and more western thug rapper lifestyle is introduced there in the Philippines...good sensible old ways seem to be fading out fast as the Island life grows and becomes influenced by the western lifestyle... crime is about to increase and the Philippines government doesn't have the spine to control it..
@wavemaker2077Місяць тому
There are not so many like him in the Philippines. When rap started in the US, there are already a lot of rapper wannabes in the Philippines. So this is not something new that the Filipinos suddenly discovered. You need to learn more about the Philippines. The Filipinos are not going to change that much as compared to before. As one American veteran who had been visiting the Philippines since the 70's, the people are still the same as before. The only difference is the progress of the country that he can see now.

Have you ever been to a bar and not found anyone running their mouths? The locals should've called the police not a gangster to take care of the problem. Grant it the guy was a jerk but shooting him was over the top. You should always be kind and respectful in another mans country and Filipinos can be very sensitive when it comes to things of this nature, But both people were wrong here and so wasn't the guy that called the gangster to come armed with a gun! It was premeditated

I think you are taking low profile to an extreme level. You ride a Click with 20+ k on the clock because you don't want to stand out? Really, no one cares or bats an eye in your driving a new scoot in the phils. It's not like you're the only one. There's are 10000's of foreigners in the Phils. How many have been kidnapped? I think i've seen a statistic saying that only 42 people (oit of 110million) got kidnapped last year and those were extremely wealthy pinoys. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just stay away from obvious terrorist areas in west-mindanou and you'll be fine.
