Now I don't know much about trains in any country other than the UK however I figured some of you might and you might appreciate a video of the railways in other European countries. So here goes. Various suburban electric units as well as many "Intercity" type trains going further afield. I'm glad I managed to catch one of the ICE TD trains right at the end or DBAG Class 605. Diesel version of the usual ICE trains, similar to a British Voyager I guess. These trains operate from Hamburg to Copenhagen & Aarhus.
Also I noticed that many of the other trains in Copenhagen were D/EMU's! Both Diesel & Electric with both a pantograph and diesel exhausts.

I went to Copenhagen for a class trip last October as part of a study abroad in Oslo. I was only in Copenhagen for a few days but fell in love with the city, and I did a little bit of train spotting at that station. Definitely need to go back soon.

Those D/EMUs with the flat front end aren't actually bi-mode like the Class 800s; they were DMUs and EMUs operating in multiple with each other. In one part of the clip, I noticed two 3-car DMUs and a 4-car EMU all coupled together to form a 10-car unit. What makes people think that they are a single unit is that the flat cab ends are actually gangway connections; the black around the cab is a rubber seal, and the driver's controls and seat are mounted on a large door (which also houses the head/tail lights and the windshield.) This door will be swung into the cab area when units are coupled together, allowing passengers to walk through the two units. When leading or trailing, the door will, of course, be shut and locked.

Exactly. The multiple units are usually split at Fredericia station. The EMU continues south on the electrified lines while the DMU continues north on the non electrified lines.

Very nice heading over to Denmark to catch some train action. One day you should try going somewhere in Switzerland like Zurich or Geneva, they have good trains there along with beautiful surroundings. Great video :)

yes, the amount of graffiti there is sometimes rather shocking. Some interestingly varied rolling stock, nice to see GMs still in passenger service. DMUs and EMUs working in multiple are interesting.

+Willowfs4472 The trains with the "rubber noses" are intercity trains, the red ones Copenhagen's suburban trains. The doubel floor trains are intercity trains as well or maybe regional trains. (I assume there is no big difference between intercity and regional trains in a small country like Danmark.)

+5mnz7fg The red ones are indeed suburban trains (similar to the London Overground etc). The "rubber noses" with the grey livery operates "Øresundståg" between Denmark and Sweden (Intercity/regional trains in Sweden and Suburban/regional in Denmark). Those with the white livery operates both InterCity, EuroCity and some regional services. The IR4 (4-car electric trains) operates mainly as regional trains, but also as extra capacity on the biggest InterCity routes. The IC3 (3-car diesel trains) operates as InterCity and EuroCity trains, but also rarely as Regional trains. The double decker trains operares as Regional trains on Zealand and very rarely as InterRegional and InterCity trains (only if they lack IC3 trains). There is a difference between Regional and InterCity trains here. Regional trains never leave their "area". Zealand have one system, Fynen another, and Jytland a third, they are also a lot slower as they stop more often and drives slower. IC trains run crosscountry only, they have a higher level of comfort, all IC trains have 1st class and until recently they had a service trolley on board. Seat reservations are also only available on InterCity trains

The ICE-TD only operates between Copenhagen and Hamburg/Berlin and will be retired during the next year.

bademeister The section between Rødby Færge (the harbour at the ferry to germany) and Ringsted is not electrified, which is about half of the journey in Denmark.
