I erased colored pencil with my kneaded eraser and then I was erasing a different drawing and it smeared onto that. So yea, don't erase colored pencil with a kneaded eraser.

It picks up dirt and animal hair very well also..I have 3 dogs and if it falls on the floor it picks up quite loads of everything and then I hate it and throw it out,pick peace’s off and so on...and sometimes we also need a more steady and harsher eraser too,so here we are checking on other ones too

the unknown stardtler eraser in the beginning is actually art gum! i love how they erase graphite so well! they do crumble easily-

FYI the faber castell perfection eraser is actually an ink eraser that typists used to use back in the day. Now it is used primarily by coloured pencil artists to erase coloured pencil usually on fairly heavy paper, most often to bring back a highlight etc. It IS supposed to be abrasive and needs to be used with caution but is the best eraser for that purpose. Most often I will pull up what I can with a kneaded eraser in a dabbing NOT rubbing motion and then use the perfection to lighten a little more. In almost all cases I am going to go over the area with coloured pencil again just in another colour/shade. Hope that helps. P.S. The Staedtler mars plastic eraser is exactly the same as in the 2 staedtler mechanical erasers, just a different holder for convenience.

I have a tip for you guys!! If the line art kinda fades after erasing it maybe because the pen isn't fully dry on the paper. So you can either blow dry the thing before you erase or let it air dry overnight. *or you just have a crappy pen*

4th one on the list that you were describing as “a block of cheese”, was a gum eraser. Staedtler and Prismacolor make the best variants that don’t leave a mountain of dust.

I have an eraser On it, its labeled "dust free eraser" However when I erase with it, it fills like, 75% of the paper with dust.

Have you try not to pick up the eraser too much? Erasing back and forth instead of erasing in small circles? I've tried one of the dust free Pentel eraser and it was amazing.

Depending on the medium artists use, or how artists do their art, they may have pencil marks under or near their lineart/coloring(such as a part of the sketch that didn't completely erase or went unnoticed) that they need to get rid of. That's why it was a negative factor if the eraser pulled up parts of the ink. With some people, they prefer to mash up tools and use pencil to shade, but marker or pen to do everything else(a friend of mine who has a more cartoon-ish style does that when he's sketching on paper) so leaving the ink on paper can be essential. Hope this helped in case you were truly confused about that!

The tombow sandpaper eraser is for times when you accidentally get a smudge or put ink where you don’t want it. Not for traditional erasing.

@@Adrienaline-Rushed-Art AFAIK the sand erasers were historically for higher grit paper, canvas, etc but the urban legend teachers told us when we were kids "don't use the blue side, that's for pen and you kids are too small for pens yet" prevailed, despite the goddamn thing not working for pens at all.

Tombow sand eraser is an eraser for mangaka to pick up tone in manga not for erasing pencil though 😂... its such a staple for them...

The pencil eraser is great for details if you work in pencil only drawings, ads highlights as well. but is something you can also use a kneaded one and make a tip.

All I use is those basic large erasers that say “for big mistakes”, the first “school” brand one you used, and I had no idea mechanical erasers existed until recently so yea, I also use that one sometimes.

Honestly, my favorite rectangle eraser is the extra soft factis. It erases very little ink and erases the pencil in less than a second

They sell the tombow mono at daiso in packs of 2 with different options. I got the white one just because I needed an eraser, but then found out how good they are with drawing. I'm glad it is in 1st place. 💙

my favorite eraser is the hi-polymer block eraser by pentel, it’s good and gets rid of the pencil really well, highly recommended

That brown Staedler eraser that you weren't sure about. That is a gum paste eraser that is particularly good for use on transparent paper like tracing paper.

I only use Sakura Sumo Grip so that I can only leave a single strand of eraser leavings, like peeling a mandarin orange.

I like those plastic erasers from target, the one with the Japanese on it. I forget what they're called. But also now I have an army of erasers... Kneaded, mechanical, and plastic bc I need them for different things. Also I've learned that harder kneaded erasers can be softened by running it over pencil a bunch and then trying to work it.

Now..I like the feeling of a good,soft eraser,but it all comes down to quality. So with that being said..my favorite is the Factis. All the others were pretty close in quality,but Factis is the winner. But the others are good to!

I actually use a Faber Castell kneadable eraser. It was very soft when I first got mine, but over time its gotten harder. Still works very good considering I've had it for 2 years haha.

That's the proper way to do it. All this blowing and using hands to brush away makes me want to cry. Plus erasers should only be used in one direction to not damage the surface of the paper

Oh wow the Faber Castell pencil eraser is my favorite eraser ever xD you can do details with that one like no other xD I’m really surprised that it didn’t work well. It works just fine for me.

My favorites are the General's kneaded eraser and the Sumo Grip. I freaking love those! I had a Prismacolor kneaded eraser that was so soft and so damp it was...sticky. Like...really sticky. My least favorite is the Pink Pearl. They still smell bad. But not like the did when I was a kid. Thank you so much

I'm disappointed 😂, you didn't use the hi-polymer eraser, now that's truly the best eraser in my opinion. They aren't even expensive and it erases everything and you dont even see where it was before I highly recommend. :)

BLUE TACK (LePage) just form shape like kneaded eraser. Strongest lifting power, fine detail fix, NO damage to paper even if you draw on toilet paper ;-).

The sandpaperish eraser youve mentioned. I use that on my Drafting. When im erasing ink on a tracing paper. It works well. And the prescision/perfection eraser with two side the other one is forthe ink and i think the pink one is for the pencil. That is why it picked up pigments of your watercolor becuase you were using defferent paprr
