This week’s film breakdown analyzes Miami Dolphins Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa from the University of Alabama. Tua possesses an advanced understanding of the position, uses his eyes to manipulate defenders out of throwing lanes and has the poise and maturity of a true franchise QB. This episode uses the all-22 coaches film to project just how good Tua can be in the NFL.

You're a dumb ignoramus. Joe Burrow is astronomically far better than Tua. Down vote from me.
@purplegold8447
@purplegold8447 4 роки тому
@@ericsnyder5427 How many times did Tua pass for 5671 yards while completing 60 touchdown passes in a single season? That's right never. Why? Cause he is not in Joe Burrow's league. Not to mention that a far greater percentage of Tua's yards came from YAC relative to Joe Burrow's yards, and on passes longer than 10 yards, Joe Burrow beats Tua by 30 percentage points. Not to mention, that Tua is very injury prone, while Joe Burrow played two SEC seasons without a single injury that caused him to miss a game. Oh yeah, on passes under intense pressure, Joe Burrow is also astronomically far more accurate relative to Tua. As it's not even close. Which is why I gave this loon and his video a downvote for wasting my damn time.

Best breakdown yet. You changed my mind on him. I knew the ability was there but at times he seemed lost. Especially when defenses applied pressure and disguised their coverages. Then I thought to myself. What QBs don't struggle against this? I wasn't very impressed with Ole Piss or aTm. However, LSU and Auburn are two totally different measuring points. What he did against them shows his ability. Great video brother. You have yourself another fan and follower.

@@mariobravo1265 Herbert's really good, it appears now that he couldn't showcase his skills at Oregon because of its offensive scheme. Herbert' has better players around him and has had to throw more to keep the Chargers in the game. Tua has 3 rookie linemen and 3rd and 4th stringers in skill positions due to injuries. The receivers aren't good or fast enough to separate from defenders, and he has had to make perfect throws. OK, his stats aren't as good as Herbert's, yet he's 6-2 for a team that won only 5 games last year, and the goal is winning, isn't it?

chewee2k I can’t see the Dolphins rolling the dice on Tua. I think Herbert’s QB2 off the board. He’ll have a far more distinguished career. I see Tua getting eaten alive at the next level. Tua seldom got hit at Bama. Then again, when you’re playing for a veritable minor league NFL team and the best team you play the 1st half of your season isn’t ranked in the top 33, you shouldn’t get hit. In the NFL, EVERY team he’ll face ... is in the top 33! The days of his playing with a massive talent disparity are over. He’ll never again experience that. When he faced talent levels closer to Bama’s, he struggled.
@stephendanley1858
@stephendanley1858 4 роки тому
What separates Tua from the rest is his vision. I first saw it his freshman year in garbage time against Vandy. On the play he avoids the rush by turning his back to the field and within a half second of turning back downfield tosses a laser for a TD. I've never seen a QB do that before or since. Remains to be seen if his career will live up to it, but he's already done things I've never seen another QB do.

@Pinky Toe The main reason that people feel that Tua is Fragile is that he has had injuries to areas of the body which we often see recurrent injuries in. Knees, ankles, hamstrings and hips are and should all be areas of concern to GMs looking to draft maybe the best pocket passer we have seen at the college level in the modern era. The fact that Tua has had leg injuries in all the major zones one might have concerns around is a very prominent red flag. On talent Tua is the consensus no.1 pick but any one of those 4 injuries can shorten or stop a football career in its tracks if it has not recovered perfectly.The simple reality that he has had serious injury to ALL these areas means that saying he is injury prone is just a statement of fact. He is.

For me he is the highest obvious risk vs reward QB prospect we have ever seen.

Folks that say that Burrow was better than Tua just go watch highlights or compare stats until his ankle injury last year. Burrow had 1 great season and Tua has a history of excellence. With rookie contracts capped, its a no brainer to take a risk on Tua very highup.

What is the difference between split and sift
@AlexRollinsNFL
@AlexRollinsNFL 4 роки тому
Split is the name of the style of run play and sift is a block that occurs within a split zone run. It's what makes the split zone run a "split" zone. A Tight End or Full back will sift across the formation to block, the 49ers run it a ton

When you have 2nd AND 3RD receiving options that are NFL 1st rounders they can make the game a lot easier. AND a great offensive line. AND a GREAT 1st round running back, QB flaws can be overlooked. He is injury prone AND being a lefty is NOT advantage for a QB. IMO, I think draftniks comped a left handed Drew Brews because of his size and football IQ. I ALWAYS liked Justin Herbert.

Everyone else seems to have read the title and immediately defaulted to “tuA iNjuRY pRoNe” and “Burrow is so much better”, without addressing any of your points. Also in your defense, Todd McShay is also on the record saying that if he knew Tua was healthy, he’d take him over Burrow.

I actually think on that Ole Miss play that Tua gave up too early on the HB Wheel. Considering he has a 3 man rush with little pressure I think if he gave more time for that to develop that could've been a touchdown. I'm not sure that it is a knock, but that type of throw can be difficult for a QB with his average-level arm strength.

He's an absolute stupid choice , upside is meaningless with a frail body . This isn't just a freak injury healed . Both ankles have been damaged so severe that they were surgically repaired. His hip was dislocated and broken , his left hand index finger broken , sprained knees . All these have scar tissue and building more every day not to mention being far weaker . College speed and hits is a walk through Disneyland compared to what's going to happen to him in the NFL . The QB is going to take the most punishment on exactly what he's had surgically repaired . Really bad move , he will not last , he will end up , a what if guy .

I completely agree with the video. Awesome breakdown. I wish Tua was more durable because his playmaking ability and pocket manipulation pre-injuries was insanely impressive. Everybody gives Burrow the nod on mobility, but that is because Tua was playing with injuries since the middle of his sophomore year. Even though he isn’t a supreme athlete and was never super fast, he knows football and he was doing it all inside and outside the pocket and was way more elusive than Burrow. He was dodging sacks to extend plays and to break runs. If y’all go watch his 2018 highlights of Missouri game and the games before you’ll see that he could run and had Russel Wilson like escapability. Unfortunately I think he has injury issue and should abandon that play style and just advance as a pocket passer.
@AlexRollinsNFL
@AlexRollinsNFL 4 роки тому
Thanks Izzy, appreciate that. Yeah, I think he's lost a little bit of mobility, I heard a scout say he thinks he's Russell Wilson, but he isn't, so he takes too many sacks and that's why he gets hurt. Thought it was an interesting critique

@isafootballguy7772
@isafootballguy7772 4 роки тому
Mar marbama yeah the surgeries are suppose to make them stronger but both times Tua had to play before he was actually heal from those surgeries. All I’m saying is that his body gets injured way to easy and that’s all around. He messed up his hand in the spring before his sophomore year, he has injured both knees and both ankles and his hip. In just two years as the started he had six injuries and 4 needed surgery. I love Tua and how he plays. I wish he was built stronger but his body can’t support the kinda play style he had at Bama. I think his pocket play and his passing ability is still the best in this draft and that he is the best QB in the draft. He just has an injury issue.

Cincinnati has a lot of potential to get a great draft this year and years to come. They could bate and trade with a bunch of different teams. Dolphins, Panthers even potentially the Redskins. IMO the smart thing to do is get out of the draft with Chase Young, but there's a lot of ways they could go about it and if not selecting Young, they'll leave with a blue chip prospect at a position of need.

I am an LSU fan so I could be bias but I think burrow is better. I think when it comes to making reads and adjusting to the defense burrow has the upper hand. If you reply to this using career stats then I think that isn’t very fair because Burrow improved greatly in the offseason. But I will say that I think tua has a more potential, while I think burrow is more NFL ready.

I like this breakdown. I’m still not a big Tua guy though... not because of his ability but because of the injuries. This guy played behind the best OLines in college and still couldn’t stay healthy. I think he’s a little fragile. He’ll do well to master his pocket presence and knowing when to kill plays in the NFL. If u can’t handle the pounding in college in question how he’ll hold up in the NFL. That said if I were a bottom barrel franchise I would still take him and hope for the best. Miami was smart to draft a couple of linemen along with him
