It’s time for another petrol v electric drag race!
We’ve brought back the Tesla Model X Plaid, and it’s going up against a Nissan GT-R NISMO!
So let’s check out the stats. Normally the GT-R is powered by a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 that can produce 600hp and 650Nm of torque. However, it’s been tuned, and as a result, it can now produce an amazing 810hp and 890Nm of torque! This power is sent to all four wheels, and it tips the scales at 1,725kg.
Then alongside it we have the Tesla. It’s powered by three electric motors, and these combine to produce 1,020hp and 1,420Nm of torque. But even though it’s up on power, it’s also well up on weight compared to the GT-R, weighing in at 2,539kg!
So the Tesla is a fair bit more powerful, but it’s also a whole lot heavier! But will the weight difference prove decisive? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!

They have been shit since the hero 3 🤣 I bought a 7 and 8 and returned both because they simply didn’t work at all. Freezing constantly, corrupting footage, overheating and dead pixels. The footage is stil 2nd to none in my opinion but that means nothing if they don’t work reliably

If it has that tune on it, and the live map selection, atleast when I had my R35 you would just hold the cruise control switch down and put your foot to the floor and it would hold that speed. Mine would hold the car at like 1 PSI of boost so you had no turbo lag during a rolling race.

Well, theres a lot of good things with the X, but reliability is horrible, I would choose S Plaid or Y P before the X. And even more so if there will be a Y facelift and possible Plaid/Ludi version soon (as with the 3). Tuned M4 for the weekends. 😊

Those MX Plaids still feel quick rolling from 60mph/100kmh with people in them, they are insane. Nothing like them on the road.

The reason is because if you look at the torque/hp curve versus speed, the Model X/S only give the full 1000hp+ after you go past 60-70mph. Below those speeds the Model S/X plaid have limited power. In other words, it is possible to generate a higher g-force accelerating from 60mph instead of 0mph in certain conditions which is wild.

@@SampleTracks2224That could be improved though. A tuned Model S currently holds the EV record on laguna seca and even beat the McLaren Senna. They're built for comfort not for race tracks. But if you add better brakes, better suspension, tires and an aero kit they're surprisingly agile (due to the low center of gravirty.

Yeah i gave up on gppro after hero 7, heard they just got progressively worse after. Swtiched to insta360 now. Doing ok but yes go pro dors have amazing stabilisation and quality when it works.

My model 3 has done 60 in around 3 seconds for 2 yrs several times a day. I drove the Plaid about 2 months ago…. And still can’t get my head around how it can accelerate that fast and I’m used to 3 seconds several times a day

@@fruitking6916oh don’t worry I have a C63 as well. I used to be a racing driver and could never not own a car with a V8! However, you will be surprised at how fun the Model 3 “Performance” can be. It’s made me giggle a few times. Also, blasting around country roads you hardly use your brakes as in track mode, the regen braking is so strong it’s like pressing the brake firmly…… but, nothing will compare to a rear wheel drive, howling V8 C63 trying to throw you off the road even in a straight line, or an M3 etc. Also, the Tezzy demolishes the C63 and everything that you see on the road, until about 120

*against the batteries. Electric motors are not a bottleneck. They use 3 instead of 1 to be able to direct power more freely.

@@milodemoray Too? That's what they drive :) All power comes from the batteries. Its determined there. The electric motor is not the limiting factor of that power.

As for the limiting factors you are on about, that's not here or there. The combustion driven Nissan GTR Nismo has too many limiting factors, not to mention inefficiencies in getting the maximum power from the combustion enginen to the wheels, as opposed to the apparent efficiency of the electric cars, but that will not stop car enthusiasts from wanting to drive said combustion car.

@@jeremypayeur5985 LOL. Nope. It's built for tracks. It has been used around racing events like the WEC . Also won a few. Iconically the 12hrs Bathurst 2015 racing event in Australia. Sadly it's still the revised 2009 model, not been updated yet.

No and neither does an ICE car. You talk like ICE cars are perfect and they are not even close. The ICE has 100 years over the electric motor in terms of development and support and mainstream and industrial application in the AUTO industry and still it is far from being as efficient as the electric motor. Battery technology is where strides need to be made.

Does Tesla keep moving after driving for 3-4 hours at 100km/h(or 60 mi/h)? Does Tesla keep moving in -15℃(or 5℉)with snow? GT-R shows high performance in each situation father more obviously.

@@user-ed5bv5ug2m I have not personally driven a Tesla car in -15 C conditions before but I do not see why it wouldn’t run or perform as long as there is ample battery power to do so. I did drive a Model S LR for about a little over 4 hours straight before getting to my next supercharger destination and I didn’t experience any issues when I arrived with 6%SOC left. A BIG problem I see with Tesla as well as other EV’s is the lack of educating the consumer on how these cars operate. I’m assuming the same learning curve existed when ICE cars hit the public. Tesla EV’s (when using the supercharger map) make sure the battery is preheated just before arriving at the supercharger. As you may or may not know it takes MUCH longer to charge a cold battery than a warm one and I believe A LOT of Tesla owners aren’t aware of this.

The most mind-blowing thought to me is that the Model X might have slightly higher range than this tuned GTR, at this point. *Fact check* The standard specs: GTR Nismo have 390 miles vs. 335 from the Model X. But the GTR is tuned so they might be close.
