This video will show you step by step on how to build your own recording studio in your home by using a closet. Https://Soundproofguide.com
Transforming a closet into a recording studio can be easy and cheap and you can do it yourself in under an hour.
In this video, I will also give you some examples of how to better soundproof the recording studio by soundproofing the door of the closet. I will also give you some soundproofing tips that you may not have thought of, I guess you could also call them "Soundproofing hacks".
Turning a closet into a recording booth will save you a lot of money compared to soundproofing an entire room and then transforming the room into a recording studio.

Literally the only thing I'm worried about is other people hearing ME. I have a small closet I wanna turn into a recording room but I'm extremely self conscious so way too afraid to have anyone hear me attempting to sing. I wanna get it to where basically NO sound escapes so I can pour my heart and soul into the music.

Don’t shy away from people hearing you, it only takes that one person to hear you and now your big time. When doing music you should unleash your inner beast on the mic and that requires a lot of confidence. If your not capable of getting through to that then your in the wrong business.

My favorite thing I learned from this video is that not every single square inch needs to be covered in foam, which puts me at ease about my setup. I sound-proofed half my closet with foam and then added a sound blanket on a curtain rod that I use as a movable divider.

Can people hear you from the outside? I was thinking about fully sound proofing my closet with pads not only for recording quality but so I can practice vocals.
@soundproofguide
@soundproofguide 4 роки тому
Yes they can but my stair case is in the middle of the house in the basement so they can’t hear me from upstairs. The pads are only for sound quality inside the small room and does nothing in terms of actual soundproofing.

i plan on using sound dampening material used for cars i wonder if it’ll have much effect. if it kills roadnoise i assume it’ll remove sounds from leaving my closet

Could you use the baby mats for the doors too? The closet I am wanting to use doesn’t have a door like that, it’s more like kitchen cabinet doors (pull to open, no seal)

That’s what I have for the floor in the video. Just make sure their not too hard to avoid sound from simply bouncing off them. 🙂

I have a closet that has those sliding doors with mirrors on, I just cleaned it, infact spent like an hour cleaning it, size wise its decent, but the big minus is my room has two windows, and one of them is near a road so cars pass around there, but I won't let that bring me down. I have another closet but it's my grandfather, who sadly passed away 6 months ago and I feel like that would be disrespectful of me to use it, not to mention my mother wouldn't like it, 25 and yet she treats me like a child.

How are the acoustic panels holding up with the Command strips? Any problems with them not holding? I'm thinking about using this technique.

Still holding strong! The wider command strips are the best with acoustic panels. Let me know how it turns out!

I would recommend adding some padding to the beams above your head...cut a pool along one edge, and then fit it over the beams, and the first time you bump into it, you won't be cursing and nursing a lump on your head! :-) Otherwise, great video!

Unfortunately there is no mention of what kind of foam. What thickness? Eggshell? Ridges? I don't know. There are so many many choices on Amazon.

Good you mention that, look for a video that I’ll be putting out in a couple of weeks. I talk about the 10 different acoustic panels and I get most of the from amazon and Home Depot. I’m just waiting for all of them to arrive before making the video. Thanks for the feedback!

I have a big closet. My question is that can I make a full desk setup in it. I will do acoustic treatment. But can i use studio monitors in closet.
@soundproofguide

Certainly can. If the closet is large and empty it can be converted to a home office. Too easy!

Depends on your set up probably. Though, if you have your monitors and /or any other appliances in the same room as your mic, it's liable to pick up the hum of any electronics

@soundproofguide
@soundproofguide 2 роки тому
You can usually tell. Easiest way is push record on your phone and compare talking and even playing music with the setup you have now versus adding more foam. Try to listen to the comparisons using headphones for best results! If there’s no difference then you’re good with using less foam.

I am in strict Japanese apartment walkincloset, they don’t want tape or pins on wall what to do TT
@soundproofguide
@soundproofguide 2 роки тому
Command strips? I know its kinda like "tape on the wall" but if applied and removed correctly, it will not tear the drywall. It might however tear off the paint if its cheap thin paint on the wall.
