Quick tip…lightly wet the board before you brand it. It will stop that board from splitting like it did.

This table arrived well packaged and on time. ukposts.infoUgkxn94T8Mu1iMnsLCMNOI9srXSsLkI4JXKW Like another reviewer advised, I pulled everything out and made sure everything was included (everything was!). I built it alone and it took me about an hour. The color is great and for the price the lift part works well. As others have mentioned, it’s not the smoothest opening/closing, but it works. The screws do show, but I plan to order white sticker covers if that bothers us too much. Really happy with this table! UPDATE: it’s been over a year since we got this coffee table and we still love it! It gets HEAVY use as our dining table, foot rest, and school desk. Over time, the opening and closing mechanism has gotten smoother. I added a new photo with the white screw cover stickers. They blend in perfectly and make it look a little cleaner. 100% recommend!!!

The expectation/hope of being paid $100 an hour for this level of effort is a little out of touch... even at $200 USD, the board is quite expensive for what it is as large end grain cutting boards can be bought for a similar price. Don't get me wrong, the board turned out looking nice, but I do think expectations should be tempered when selling something so ubiquitous. Anyways, thanks for the video and merry Christmas to you.

What are your thoughts about repurposing finished hardwood furniture and running it through a planer or table saw? Just wondering if you have any health concerns? Ive got these slats from an old ikea bedframe, replaced it some time back because what self respecting woodworker buys / has Ikea furniture 😅. That being said the slats that held the mattess are actually great looking ply pieces! Slightly warped, but all to the exact same bend, whick works for a unique look for my intended coffee table. Im turning them up on their side, and using flourecent acrylic strips between each slat. Not sure which color yet, but work in an acrylic fabrication shop, so no problem securing parts 😁

I thought you have to have one face of the project already flat in order for a planer to flatten out the other surface. Is the planing here just to clean up the wood and the project does not necessarily have a flat top? I'm still learning so just wondering, thanks.
@andrewoatman6745
@andrewoatman6745 Рік тому
Flattening one side before planing allows you to get the two surfaces parallel to each other, which isnt strictly necessary for a board like this. But the planer will make each surface flat no matter what, unless you take too deep of plane passes. You should read some old popular woodworking articles about stock prep.
@anniekate76
@anniekate76 Рік тому
Because he is reusing wood from furniture it was probably flat already. My makerspace does not let us use reclaimed wood in the planer and jointer though because of the risk of hardware hidden within it damaging the blades. They are very expensive to replace!
