However, we've learned the human brain forms a LOT of pathways regarding language in the first two years - in other words, the period in which Mina _was_ living in a bilingual environment. Although she had no formal English classes in the US, her brain was likely already wired to pick it up more easily at International school or wherever. I think that's why when she _isn't_ thinking, she sounds fluent. She picked up Korean fast too.
