Tyson Fury, the Gypsy King, is a professional boxer and the two-time World Heavyweight Champion.
In our conversation, Tyson opens up in a way not heard before about his mental health struggles, his challenging childhood and the dangerous nature of obsession. Although Tyson has celebrated the highest-highs, he has also suffered the lowest-lows, with the most monumental events in his life leading into deep depression and suicidal thoughts.
Tyson has now become a passionate mental health advocate. He is able to share valuable lessons, explore what he would have done differently and how he is now living one day at a time, being present in every moment.
Tyson's book "Gloves Off" is out now.

@@ibrarhussain5536 I had it bad for over a year. Before that I tried to ignore the symptoms and "man-up" for a few years which is the worse thing to do. I got better with self-taught CBT and mindfulness and staying off the things in life that make depression worse such as drink, drugs and it might sound strange but sugar too. It took a lot of mental strength and a mighty effort to get back to some sort of peace and unfortunately many don't get the help in time they need or to help themselves. I've put strategies in place now when I feel a dark cloud passing over and usually the epsiodes don't last as long as they used to. Good luck brother if you suffer too.

The hardest part of anxiety/mental health is explaining it to someone. It's next to impossible because most people cannot identify with it. It's like watching a house pet get cancer. They can't tell you what's wrong and sometimes, you can't see the effects physically. I appreciate Tyson because he's able to articulate it so well. He's very relatable and his story gives a lot of people hope. Thank you Tyson.

Best of Luck Lee. Take time to understand your Circadian clock we all have this in us. You need to get a good grip on what you eat. Breathing is massive on this one and it needs to be thought about and balanced. I am no councilor but I have been very close to total breakdown and it's very hard to get out of if you leave it. You need to observe your self and the way you think. Write your thoughts down good or bad not a diary just a reference to how you feel and this will link it to why. Look up the Asian squat and practice it this takes time but it will sort your balance out. It's all linked. Good man.

I'm not a boxer and I'm not a 7ft man. I'm actually a 5ft 2 woman. But, I can relate to everything Tyson has spoken about surrounding mental health. Ups and downs, Panic and anxiety from a very young child, psychosis -- seeing and hearing things that are not there, believing people were trying to poison me or harm me, being scared and petrified, and trying to kill myself. I was diagnosed with bipolar and a whole litany of other issues at 47. I cried when the psychiatrist told me I had bipolar, not because I was afraid or ashamed, but because like Tyson I finally had an answer for why life had been so difficult for so many years. Life is not perfect but since medication and lots of hard work realising what triggers episodes and what I can and shouldn't do, life is calmer and more peaceful. Medication is NOT a bad thing if you have balance in your life--taking medication has helped me know myself, be calm, have much less ups and downs. The BIGGER issue, though, here is access to mental health services in the NHS and how awful that process is -- I would like that to be a mission, to get better help for other people. Congrats, Tyson, you are the heavy weight champion of the world by coming to a place where you can function beyond mental health-- that is the biggest mountain to climb. 🧡

Dealing with life with drugs/alcohol and mental health issues for as long as I can remember, and then in 2010 I went to prison until 2019, came out clean and fit, then a short while after I lost my mom first and then my nan during covid, since then I've just locked myself away from everyone just getting worse!! Seeing this has made me finally realise that I need to seek help before it's me in that car heading for that bridge, it's all I've literally been thinking about and planning lately. I can see so many parallels with my own life, and had to do exactly the same thing as Fury, so listening to him talk was fascinating. Blokes don't like to talk about their mental health, nor do they like to admit they have struggles in life, it's the bloke way to just put on a brave face and try to portray their lives as nothing wrong everything's great. Thank you for this amazing interview, and thank you to Fury for being so honest and really going in deep with the way he has had to find a way to cope with the double life, the stresses, and the mental health struggles that many blokes have to deal with.

It was the year 2001. I had just graduated from college and right after the dinner celebration with family, I went for a shower and BAAAAM.....out of nowhere a full blown panic attack hit me for the very first time in my life. I was struck with terror. Didn't know what was happening and yes, just like Tyson here, I thought my next home would be a padded cell....forever. It was a brutal experience that I wouldn't wish even upon my worst enemy. The internet was not what it is today, and mental health shit, specially with men, was an obscure topic back then.....so I had to fight this crap alone...not really knowing what I was up against. Thankfully I overcame this hell...but it was no walk in the park. I feel proud for Tyson, I know the inner battles he's had to fight to get back on his feet....the wilder trilogy is like a back rub compared to what it is to face these demons within you. Simply put....Warrior. I hope Tyson sticks around for a while. The Dude is good for humanity.....and for boxing

He's an extraordinary character. An incredibly courageous and outstanding boxer. The greatest showman since Ali as The Gypsy King. And yet a highly intelligent and sensitive character as Tyson Fury. It's little wonder that this has led to mental health problems. If he hadn't been given such a massive frame and boxing gifts, I could easily imagine him channelling his intelligence and sensitivity in a creative pursuit.

I'm so happy 😊 that you have got well and to a better place. God bless you 🙏. I also have suffered similar issues as tyson but my mental health issues were through sexual, physical abuse from a child and adult. I'm not a victim am a survivor. I still struggle but that's fine. I can cope much better. So whoever else is suffering reach out for help ASAP with professionals. God bless you all 🙏

Depression is one thing, dealing with the rush of being the big thing is far, far more. I had a brush with that stuff and it messed me right up for about 3 years when it ended - ended ip locked in a cabin seeing no-one for 2 years. In my experience, a large part of the problem is that your identity becomes framed by other people's view of you, so you become reliant on people affirming you and who you are, which is a one-way trip to hell. I came out of that in a moment I'll never forget, it was the strangest thing, I was lain in bed and I had the distinct impression my "mind's eye" slid suddenly from about 6 inches above my head (the outside observer) back into my skull... And the moment it happened I thought "What am I doing? I could be riding my motorbike across the moor." Sounds daft but that thought simply would not have occurred to me one minute before because then anything good relied on something coming fron elsewhere, to suddenly realise I could make myself happy was a startling revelation at the time, though it sounds completely mad to say it. But, yes, the madness that comes eith being in the spotlight (and losing that position) is very, very difficult to deal with and very rarely spoken about - it's why most old performers are so broken and spend all their days reliving their past. ...Fury has probably the biggest challenge of his life to overcome that - in comparison, relieving depression is childs play, that one can leave you a soulless shadow forever and very, very few people, if any, understand what you are up against because the vast majority never get anywhere near that experience.

Gives me goosebumps him talking about him on his knees praying to god. Then getting up feeling lifted. I have felt this too. Fair play to Paris being his Rock. My Dad is my Rock then there and always. All of the loved ones I’ve lost. 5.8 man doing scaffolding but jesus can i relate to tyson so much. From an Irish my Dad moved over here we was born here. But we had noone nothing. Had to build our way up. Feeling worthless and useless. To the man i am now providing. Getting stronger by the day. Looking after my Family. And having some sort of a vision. Tyson if you see this comment. Please message me Sir. I would be honoured to meet you and go for a run with you. I have every book and if i had the money i would love to watch you live. I used to be inspired by Mcgregor but i realise. He lost the hunger and actually is effecting his mental health now. Tyson is a man that has lived it and is living throughout this it. ForEver the King. Is more then many aspects of life. Admirable to the max. A man that can conquer his demons. Control them from day to day. That is an honest and powerful man that we are lucky enough to have the privilege of him being able to talk about this. Jesus im nearly in tears just from thinking how much strength and courage he had. I felt that weight on my shoulders. Still do even more so now. Hoping for that day where is all clicks together snd everything runs smooths. Until then i will continue to better myself everyday. Thank you again 👑

I love these interviews, they always make him look better than he is, They never have the balls to ask him the hard questions. Like why does WBC come to his rescue everytime AJ lines up a fight for them.... Why did he run away from the contracted Vlad Rematch. Why did he run from AJs fight callouts, why does he have a large number of cherry picked nobodies on his resume. Why does he use AJ's name and never fights him? Why all the running and dodging? What did AJ do to him in sparring that moved Fury to always run from AJ.

The hardest thing for me is the loneliness not only in the isolating that I do to myself but also life in general , everything I do on a daily basis is a challenge to me like it is to nobody else on the planet because they are my issues , yes other people have similar diagnosis and similar symptoms but you can't ever know what's happening in someone else's head . I first saw a psychiatrist when I was 11 and I have had a psychiatric doctor for many years but all they ever want to do is pump me full of drugs which never really help instead of some long term therapy and counselling to help me work through it and get some kind of understanding , all I get is a 10 minute consultation every three months that's 40 minutes a YEAR , my family don't understand and to be honest I frustrate them mainly due to them not understanding my condition which is frustrating for me and round and round it goes , i have to resort to ringing the suicide lines just for someone to talk to who doest have an opinion of me normally after I have self harmed . My cap is doffed to Tyson he has done amazing and I wish him all the best in his daily struggles and I'm glad he had people around him who were willing to listen and support him through the tough days because I'm sure it must be unbearable at times for our loved ones also . Edit: I just want to say I really enjoyed the honesty and glimpse into the real person behind the persona , it's made him real which brings to life the struggles he has gone through and makes them more relatable to others , cheers big fella 👍

1st time I've seen anything from your channel and I've subscribed. Tyson is an extremely influential man, a wonderful speaker and this interview amazing. The questions posed where thoughtful, hard hitting and exposing yet Mr Fury answered all with openess and exposed himself and his personality. For Tyson himself I sincerely hope that he can find peace in himself after boxing as he has helped directly and indirectly the issues of mens mental health simply by his candidness. If it wasn't for him, I don't think men's mental health would be such a big talking point as it has been over the last couple of years. God bless you all

Love this man. Truly is a great hero of our time. I understand exactly what he is saying because i have lived a similar life. Not a boxing one but the pain of an alcoholic father and being unsure of who i am and feeling lost with no hope. But i also had the pain of losing lots of family members. My dad moved to London from Ireland when we were kids. I never understood it at the time but wow i am so grateful now at the age of 28. Was a tough time growing up. Still is tough but by god am I glad we have the opportunity to be great, I also exercise in order to keep the head straight. Thank you Fury for ur words of wisdom. I would love to meet you someday. I bought every book and if i had the money to watch you I would. Love and Respect always Champ.
