Title is somewhat misleading. She asked Henry about the "gegenpressing style of Red Bull teams", Henry probably didn't hear the question too well and went on to explain the pressing of Red Bull teams without mentioning that gegenpressing is slightly different to what he explained. This is regular aggressive and risky pressing, gegenpressing is doing that but specifically trying to exploit the moment the opponent has just got the ball off you and is a bit disorganized. Henry not quite addressing the whole question (and explaining whatever is more interesting/relevant instead, which is fair when you're on TV) and whoever made this video title not knowing the difference between the two terms made this a pretty misleading title, which is a shame because the video is actually a great visual explanation of coordinated risky pressing.

@SoLazy100Рік тому
That's not Gegenpressing. That's simply pressing. Gegenpressing is pressing to get the ball back right after it was lost. In these about 5 seconds the team that just won the ball is very vulnerable because the focus shifts from defense to offense. Pep's Barça caught a lot of opponents in this way. So did Klopp's Dortmund. For Dortmund it was their main attacking strategy. Didn't work anymore in 2014/15 when their opponents started playing long balls immediately after winning the ball. Dortmund was then forced to have possession and didn't know what to do with it.

This isn't gegenpressing which refers to high intensity press immediately after a possession has been lost. This is an example of pressing, just call spade a spade. No need to sound too cool while actually making yourselves look stupid. And mostly referring to the title, not necessarily Henry.
@yabannamba7678Рік тому
To me geggenpressing is just pressing, but you do it all the time. Fundamentally there's not difference between pressing and geggenpressing.
@danielabatabogdanov8586Рік тому
@@yabannamba7678 there is because a team can play without pressing and with geggenpressing. Geggenpressing is specifically pressure applied after losing the ball.
@jorisoims3085Рік тому
@@yabannamba7678 Ggeggenpressing literaly means counter pressing in German. Geggenpress is really specific to the counter pressing you apply when loosing the ball. For exemple a team that plays Geggenpressing won't necessarily keep on applying pressing once their original counter pressing has been beaten, they might just decide to regroup.

Would Klops prime Liverpool successfully gegenpress Guardiola's 2009 Barca?
@adriangutierrez3196Рік тому
They could possibly give a better fight than mourinhos Madrid was more so a counter attack team, but I don’t think any team could beat prime barcelona, it’s a team that is the definition of a team, rather than every position being stacked
@wander7317Рік тому
As a Liverpool fan, I’d say probably not. At Anfield, there’s a very good chance it’s the Reds. At the Camp Nou, there’s also a very good chance it’s Barca. There was some world class talent in Salah, Mane, Trent, Van Dijk, Thiago and Allison and when combined, they were an incredibly intense side to play against. Combine that with a great captain with excellent technique and experience and of course, the whole team had a particular tendency to run like hell at every opportunity with a huge range of passing and technical ability across the board. But the individual talent of that Barcelona team drilled in a style that emphasises very short and dynamic passing and attacking play was ahead of anything that Liverpool could produce. Klopp’s team are expected to overload individual players through a lot of running and strong defensive awareness. When you have players like Lionel Messi and Thierry Henry that run past 2 or 3 players most days, the numbers game doesn’t really hold up. Add to that the greatest midfield trio of all time (Let’s be real, it’s not a debate) and the arguably greatest defensive midfielder as well as two of the best defenders ever. Let’s not forget Puyol was one of the best captains ever and Dani Alves is silverware-wise, the most decorated football in history. It would be a fuckin great match, though and a hell of a fight. But I do think that if every player on the pitch was their best self, Barcelona would eke out a victory. :)
@blackwaterproduction289Рік тому
You can't get near the 2011 team, no team will ever come close!! They actually play better when you press them until you get tired then they finish you off and you wouldn't even touch the ball!
@GIBBO4182Рік тому
You’re better off dropping off and letting them have the ball in non dangerous areas of the pitch. Gegenpress is a bad match up imo…once they get past your initial press, which they would, you’re in big, big trouble
