Personally, I assume the SMART Ammunition is more important than MRSI feature. SMART Its a projectile forming target searching Ammunition. One shot is two "warheads" in final approach and both search for their target by themselves. Was developed in the early 90ies to counter warsaw pact mass attacks of "good enough tanks" as the T72.

While a cool feature. I think the kinds of fights they are having are more traditional firing at maximum effective range and relocating. The MRSI requires that you are closer to the target. I’m sure there will be opportunities when that could be/will be used however. I’m just assuming they are going to try and keep these guns as safe as possible and only as close to the front as necessary to be effective.

So the local mechanic shows via smartphone/real-time-video the engine/problem and at the german backend a german engineer/mechanic is directing the local mechanic via that communication method (in the field via i.e. StarLink).

That would probably be pretty much all operational howitzers of the German military ;-) It’s not going to happen as of course the German military needs artillery for the NATO Response Force, the battlegroup in Lithuania etc. Germany is going to send 3 more, also the Netherlands will send 3 more. That’s going to increase the total to 18. Of course theoretically Italy could add a few, but I think so far they don’t plan to send PzH 2000.

As a German, I want to thank you. Without the Dutch initiative our lame-ass government wouldn't have had the guts to do anything. It was the same thing with Panzerfaust. Our guys were busy making a sorrowful face, then the Dutch showed up and told them: "Hey we have this equipment from German manufacturers, that we are going to deliver to Ukraine, unless you make a public statement to stop us." No one had the guts to do that, either, and suddenly all the pretext, why that kind of equipment couldn't be delivered looked hollow, so the Germans put up some of their own equipment, too, to not look completely stupid. larger caliber and longer range artillery tends to be big. the 155mm gun firing full charge produces around 55t of recoil this has to be compensated. also the magazines take place etc.

It isn't a tank it's a self propelled howitzer. This is the best in the world ATM and we have 18 more waiting for replacement so they can be shipped to the Ukrainian army. The last 22 are still awaiting the permission from our parliament and the German government. We had 40 total in storage 22 operational and 18 test and development version.

Cause many countries depended on Germany to help them fight the red enemies, Romania, Croatia, Czechoslovakia, etc Germans came to my country to help us Finnish people's fight off the red army. I wish we could send them a bunch of the oerlikon AA systems, that would be game over for the russian air flotilla as it stands now.

Good point and for Gepards they can carve up Russian Infantry exposed in the field so are their airborne troops the VDV Using An-124 IL-76 plane including the BMD light tank. Gepard will need Nozh Explosive Reactive Armour to protect itself from Hermes ATGM the latest Russian ATGM

@@MrSheduur Gun based AA currently is more used to destroy incoming missiles rather than actual combat airplanes or helicopters. Gepards should be used to defend bases, launching points etc. Not quite frontline material to be honest.
