That's a mighty fine chop station ya got there. I like that stop block track system, clean and simple. I think a nice addition would be to inlay a ruler on each side, one that reads left to right and one that reads right to left. Because even with all that storage, you know damn well you're gonna find yourself searching for that tape measure that likes to always disappear.

I love the grain and edge detail you paid attention to for your cabinets. I'm always blown away by woodworkers on UKposts ignoring details like that. For your dust collection though I can't help but feel like you would have way more success in terms of overall dust capture if you brought the dust collection in from the top since your current design is fighting the natural upward flow of the miter saw's dust port.

i love this so much! This dude is the perfect mixture of Patriot, Craftsman, Idiot, Genius and lovable person. I can tell the dude knows what he´s doing, but things like building doors too big and then sanding them down until they fit seems like implementing extra steps to use more tools, because it´s more fun. I always just used to buid them to size.

I got a hold of some of the clear plastic/rubber strips they use on walk in freezers and use that to frame around my miter saw. It keeps the dust in but easily moves out of the way when swinging or tilting the saw.

I have the same saw and built a similar box around mine, ended up building doors that attach with magnets to focus the dust collection behind the blade. Dan Pattison also had a video improving the DC on the same saw.

Dan's mod includes altering the dust port and the boot behind the blade. Very effective mods! I have both on my Bosch Glide; big improvement. Go to a 90 - 100 tooth blade as well to cut down the scatter-- huge difference.

Just stumbled on your channel, love it so far. I would recommend a face plate for the dust box, cut out just enough that your saw comes through it freely (use cardboard for an easy template). The better enclosed that box is, the more suction you will have for the dust to be pulled in.

Love the concept, was thinking about something similar and wanted to see if anyone had already done it. You win. One thought, throw an elbow and maybe a short length of hose onto the out port to encourage the dust toward the table. It may already be there, hard to tell in the final shots

great video and a really cool setup. I actually think the curved piece might be hurting your dust collection, I know its to keep the airflow close to the saw, but i think its also acting as a deflector guiding the chips up and away from the vacuum ports before the suction can slow them down. if you just had the square box with the downdraft the chips wouldn't have such an easy path out and many would hit the back top, slowing them down and letting the suction grab hold

I had an Uncle who LOVED eating lemons, and an occasional raw onion. As strange as it may sound, both are jam packed with antioxidants, and no, I would never eat either. 25:50 I think the handicap in your dust collection is the slots you cut in the plywood to serve as a grill for the duct collection. It does look very restrictive, the slots are fairly narrow and pretty widely spaced out.. I would cut that entire section of plywood out, route in a rabbet, maybe 1/4 inch deep and 1/2 to 3/4 inch wide, whatever works best for you, around the edge of the new hole, and lay in a piece of expanded steel (get it at any hardware store or big box store) and secure it with a few screws. Your dust collection will greatly improve.
