Wrong. He only called it merciful to sell the act better. He wasn't ever interested in saving the universe. His one and only goal was to be gratified, shown reverence. He very well could have simply eradicated the entire universe, as his past self in Endgame indicated. He instead decided to create the illusion of "benevolent genocide", killing a trillion to save the other, and then be respected for it by those left. Recall what he said to Strange when they met on Titan, about what came after his plan. Thanos said aloud that he wanted to "look out upon a *grateful* universe". He cared nothing about if the universe would actually prosper, he only cared that he would be thanked for his choice to use the Snap.

@@ReallyKeepingFictional i do think this element of the character is far more potent in the comics; what with thanos only pursuing his quest to win the affections of death herself; but i see what you mean in the main mcu as well. not to mention that in the final endgame fight he admits that once he saw how ungrateful the universe was that he was more than happy to just kill everyone and start again. however i think sacrificing gamora in this context is a bit out of character, that felt like a sacrifice that he would only really do if he knew it was the right thing to do, but oh well. maybe it’s a mix of both. i was mainly arguing against his knowledge of how to use the stones

@@clam6254 I think it's more that Thanos *couldn't* use the Stones at full power rather than didn't know how. We all saw the effects of the Snap on him, it charred his arm and the Gauntlet which was specifically made to handle the Stones' power. And that was just a brief use of all six Stones. Meanwhile, Vision's body was made specifically tailored to the Mind Stone. He could wield the Stones without adverse effect, so Ultron being completely apathetic meant there was no limitation physical or mental to going all-out.

Not really, the show just wanks the power of the stones to the point of them working outside their universe.

He's strong. I honestly think of the Watcher didn't make an oath, he would have probably beat Ultron.

It couldn’t have been that long considering on Earth not too much time has passed. Both Black Widow and Hawkeye didn’t age at all by the time Ultron left the Universe. He probably said “finally” out of the happiness of being able to continue his function.

Probably a very long time. Considering that where the Watcher resides is essentially the realm where the entire multiverse intersects at a single observation point. And since Ultron doesnt know where that is he's been universe jumping non stop for God knows how long looking for an entry point.

The stones apparently adapt to their user's will and Thanos just wanted to cull the herd. Ultron wanted to commit omnicide.

He couldn’t, using one stone can kill most people Thanos using its full power once to do the snap nearly killed him, and he used it again to destroy the Stones Ultron doesn’t have an organic body to be corroded by the infinite power of the stones, and his body is made of vibranium to channel the energy, making him the one person in HIs universe at least to use all the Stones at full power with no fear

To be fair though Thanos was never really trying to use the stones to their full potential, he just wanted them so he could achieve his goal of halving all life in the universe

Because the TVA exists in a place even outside of the furthest reaches of time and space. Uatu watches things from inbetween universes so they are still close enough to the timeline where Ultron won that they can still be used. But since the TVA doesn’t experience time like the rest of the universe the stones are just stones. In Endgame, The Ancient One revealed the stones create the flow of time, so it makes sense that the stones don’t work in a place where time doesn’t really exist. Basically imagine your walking on a beach, the sand is one universe and the water is another, The Watcher exists where the sand touches the water while the TVA exists in space not touching anything. That is why the stones work in Uatu’s dimension but not at the TVA

@@dream8870 The chances of an AI like Ultron defeating humanity would be very small. Humans are extremely cautious animals and we're obsessed with keeping control over not only other animals and the environment, but over our own species as well. If we ever created sentient robotic life we would definitely have kill switches, viruses, or some sort of override in case our machines decide to turn on us. Even then a machine randomly breaking out of it's program and creating an entirely new set of codes and programs to carry out a self driven mission is extremely unlikely.

What’s funny about the multiverse Avengers fighting Ultron thing is that that happens once in the comics. Ultron was in a one man war against Kang the Conqueror, and to defend himself Kang summoned almost every version of the Avengers across all of time and space to such an extent their war was wiping out most of existence, and Ultron. Kept. Going. Let me rephrase this: Multiple Universes worth of Avengers were sent after Ultron, so many Time and Space were being torn apart from the amount, and Ultron wasn’t defeated by them easily. This is likely the closest we’ll get to a Comic accurate characters power level in any MCU movie, and it’s oddly fitting it was Ultron.

In that stillness, combined with his ever-heightening perception, he was able to hear the faint voice of The Watcher as it leaks through the dimensions.
