In 1977 my 9th grade class took a bus trip from Arkansas to Mexico City. On the way back, we stopped in San Antonio for the night. We stayed in a hotel close to the Alamo and we had dinner in the big tower. When we pulled into the hotel, Col. Sanders was coming out of one of the rooms. He was dressed in his full suit... you could NOT, NOT notice him. He was gone before we could get out of the bus, but seeing him in real life, fairly close up... was AMAZING!!!!

I don't know why, but watching you open gifts is one of my favorite things to watch you do! I think it is because, no matter the gift, you are always so kind and grateful. It is just nice to see kindness in the world.

I've just started watching you in the last two weeks, and I've been periodically binging the content, and this is the first unboxing video I've watched. From what I have seen so far, combined with the knowledge that you had a museum at one point, it has occurred to me that you must have the most incredible organization system ever to just have all these little items at your fingertips whenever you want them! I'm completely impressed! As a collector of many items, they are all over the place. I hope to be as organized as you, as I've just retired and have much more time to dedicate to that now. Very impressed, and i love your channel. Im also from the Detroit metro area (hi from Grosse Pointe Farms - i dont live too far from your old neighborhood!) for now. Hoping to be near Tucson in tge next few months. Love your content! Thanks so much for all you do.

Oh wow "Sugar Sugar" by The Archies! Do I have a story to tell. I loved that song so much and wanted the record so bad that I took 2 dollars out of my mother's purse and walked to the mall with a couple of my "friends" to purchase the 45. One of them was a bully from hell. Before we got to the Woolworth store, we passed a bakery where the bully friend demanded that I buy him a donut. I told him I only had 2 dollars and wanted to buy the record with the money. He replied that I had better buy him the donut, or he would tell my mother that I stole the money out of her purse. He said he would take care of the record situation. Needless to say, I bought him the donut because I didn't want my ass kicked (by both the bully and my mother). Afterward we went into the Woolworth where he proceeded to stuff the record into the donut sack and tried to walk out with the record when immediately security nabbed him and took him upstairs leaving me and the bully's brother to panic and run to the other side of the mall. We were both on the verge of tears when the bully suddenly appeared and said the security guard let him go but banned him from Woolworth for life. I guess a 99-cent record (1.07 with tax) wasn't a bad enough crime to go to juvie over. I never had anything to do with those guys ever again. I never got the record BTW.

I just visited Larry Edmunds Bookshop and found a book on the Early Warner Brothers Studio. I love what this shop offers and am so glad you recommended them! They have Sci-Fi books for the films, the history of RKO Studios... so many books I want to nab up and dive into, but I'll content myself with getting one a month for a while. I will be happy to help this bookshop. I feel like I've found a gold mine of information regarding Hollywood Film history!

Always enjoy the unboxings, and yes I too like the shirt, I plan on going out in style and leaving a good looking Corpse. haha. Regarding the go-go boots, I have wondered why 'You Need Me' wasn't released as a single, it may well have been a hit. We'll never know. x edit: My husband's birthday is also 18th August, on which we reflect on our losses of soldiers at Long Tan (18.8.66).

28:35 She looks a lot like Dawn Davenport in her school costume in "Female Trouble". I'm referring to the scenes where Dawn's eating a meatball sandwich in class, then smoking in the bathroom. A pleated plaid skirt and long sleeve blouse. Even the hairstyle is like Dawn's.

7:36 Spring / Summer 1980. Around this time; me and my friends were getting into "new music" and the Ramones were top on our list . (The other BIGGIES - to us- were the B-52's, Talking Heads, Devo and Blondie). In the "burbs" circa 1980 - "new alt punk" music was still dark uncharted waters (musically) . And SCORNED by our peers who were still into Grateful Dead, Lynyrd Skynyrd , Pink Floyd, The Doors , The Rolling Stones , Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull , Styx and Kansas . (M-TV had not happened yet). It was like you were in a "cult" if you liked the Ramones and hated Boston (the band) ! TOTAL "US and THEM" . Rock n' Roll High School was thrown into the mix of "Midnight Movies" - an umbrella of titles thru the UA Theatres (Song Remains the Same, Pink Floyd The Wall, Rocky Horror, Cheech and Chong's first movie and a few others). So we would go out and see Rock n' Roll High School once a week . Later on, Great Adventure (amusement park) in NJ, would give FREE concerts on Fridays with paid admission to the park. So one week after RUPERT HOLMES -- was-- The Ramones !!
@LannieLord
@LannieLord 2 місяці тому
We cut school and paid a friend to drive us there . The show was OUTDOORS on a SUNNY DAY - not quite the atmosphere for a RAMONES show . It was awesome to say the least! End of the Century was the new album. The Ramones were still at their high water mark (even though - they HATED each other by this point) . After the show - we stood by the back of the stage and we could see some of the Ramones hanging out (thru a chain link fence) - so we nudged a security guy - handed him a napkin and a Sharpie marker and BEGGED him to have them sign it for us! (Thankfully our friend that did the asking was a large breasted 18 year old chick - LOL ). Guy comes back with the signed napkin! And - the marker BLEED THRU so we actually had 4 copies of the signatures to spilt up !
@LannieLord

That fall I was in NYC enrolled in Art School . It was not uncommon to see one of the Ramones with their wife/ girlfriend shopping in GREENWICH VILLAGE when they were not touring. I nabbed MORE autographs this way! Once we were on line to get into a store that sold Vintage movie posters. They had some "Scream Queens" singing autographs - for FREE so me and some of my friends went in just for laughs and to see who would show up. While on line- I turn around and 5 feet behind me was Johnny Ramone and his wife! Johnny is a BIG horror fan and has (well- had) an extensive collection of "Scream Queen" autographs from Fay Wray to P.J.Soles to Elsa Lanchester . So I asked him nicely for an autograph and he even dated it with the correct date.

My FINAL encounter with the Ramones was in 1982/83 I was friends with a local band called The Mosquitos. They were getting a "following" and were kinda like Retro (think The Stray Cats) but their "niche" was to sound like "Early British Invasion" circa 1965. Some strings were pulled and The Mosquitos were the warm up act for the Ramones at Stony Brook university on Long Island. They gave me and a few friends backstage passes . We did have to set up and take down the equipment - so we did not have any Ramones interactions except to see the play from the side of the stage in a roped off area with NO other people around us!! Lastly : we asked the management "How much do the Ramones get per concert?"
@LannieLord
@LannieLord 2 місяці тому
At that time , 1982-83 they were getting $6,000.00 a show which-- did not seem like a LOT for a band that was History of Rock material as well as being famous world wide. But then my friend reminded me "Yeah but what if they do 4 or 8 concerts a MONTH - for an entire year?" . And $6,000.00 was a LOT more in 1983 than it is today! P.S. I also met The Clash !

Lido Hotel: I think the movie "Disco Godfather" w/ Rudy Ray Moore was filmed there (?). IF you've never seen "Disco Godfather" (1978) , you may want to set up a viewing party around it with beer and good pot. Rudy Ray Moore's movies make other blaxploitation movies look like old soap operas from the mid 1960s (the ones when people just sat around and talked about their problems) . He's pretty much the "John Waters Meets Ed Wood of Blaxploitation" . Required Viewing .
