Non-stick coating doesn't evaporate when it touches metal it's just very easy to scrape off. But gently touching it with the round side of a spoon doesn't do anything to it.

Remember taking food tech in high school, new room, new utensils. Non stick pans with metal utensils to be exact. Nearly had a panic attack first lesson. The teacher got some wooden utensils the next week after I told her that we should be learning to take care of the gear we use as well! 😂

Texan here, steak doesn't go in a pan. 3 min per side over hot mesquite coals. Cooking steak in a pan is for the convenience of a restaurant that doesn't have access to an actual fire.

@@BooTheEater because he needs presentable pan in the video. So he often needs new ones, he can't keep them all. And he doesn't even live there, he probably isn't traveling with a non-stick pan

as an Asian, having that sound on the pan is a real "okay how long will I use this pan from now on" in my head Though my parents didn't know any of that and kept telling me how non-stick has a terrible lifetime, they use a spatula, metal in that thing and they never lasted a year.
