We bring to your attention on the official channel of the Odesa Film Studio (@OdesaFilmStudio) the premiere of a military drama about a personality significant for the history of the Ukrainian people.
Co-production of the Ukrainian-American feature film “Unconquered” in 2000 by film director Oles Yanchuk. Filmed at the film studio "Oles-Film Studio" with the assistance of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA) and with the participation of the National Film Studio named after. A. Dovzhenko. The main consultant for the film was the then president of the World Congress of Ukrainians, Askold Lozinsky.
1950 With the end of the Second World War in Western Ukraine, an unequal struggle is being waged on two fronts: first against German troops and sabotage detachments of the NKVD of the USSR, and then independently in February with the entire punitive force of the USSR. Units and small militants of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army continue the armed struggle in the Carpathians. At the head of the army is a talented commander, the famous cornet general Roman Shukhevych, known among the UPA soldiers as Taras Chuprinka. It is the fate of the commander that forms the action-packed and dynamic basis of the film “Invictus”: this is a successful attempt to convey to the viewer the truth about the events of war and post-war times in Western Ukraine through artistic means.
The film's foreign premiere took place on March 11, 2001 in the United States at the NYU Cantor Film Center. On September 1, 2001, the film had its foreign premiere in Canada at the Montreal Film Festival. On September 30, 2008, the film appeared on DVDs.

Interesting fact. In the finale there is a scene where the faces of MGB soldiers are shown in close-up as Shukhevych's brothers ride. To save a little money, cadets from the Kyiv Air Force Institute were involved in the filming. One of this “capture group” later ended up in Frankovsk and rose to the rank of major.
The film was shot in Lviv, although the events take place in Lviv, some scenes were filmed in Ivano-Frankivsk. In particular, the Mazepa wine cellar became the location for the first scene of the film. They also used the beginning of Chornovol Street, where the ruins of an Austrian house became the scenery. Another scene was filmed near the local pre-trial detention center. The location became a picture of a Lviv prison during the retreat of the Reds and the execution of prisoners.
