During the social dancing where the band, Jonathan Stout and His Campus Five featuring Hilary Alexander (who started the event 25 years ago) played, this contest happened! They also taught classes during the weekend.

@@Marnee4191Well, you did say it shouldn't be a competition. But yeah, these guys are all some of the best in the world, but most cities have Lindy communities and the barrier to entry is very very low. Just show up and start dancing.

As for me dancing, doesn't it require a partner? I've never had any luck showing up for dance classes or groups without a partner, of which I am currently lacking. But it's great to know these are likely out there in my city. Maybe some day. Thanks!

My Mom was a 'Lindy Hopper' back in the day. She taught my sister and I her two favorite moves - the 'Shorty George' and the 'Suzy Q'. I'm 75 now, and I still do them to this day.

The way I audibly gasped at 3:47. Like they did so much and just went above and beyond... just the speed they went at. It almost seemed second nature. You could see a lot of moves coming but that was just so fast and they did it so easily I was genuinely shocked. Bravo

I love Niles and Bianca but it's clear which won IMO the judges got this right on. Finesse plus power and creativity is what made the difference. If it was only power, speed, and creativity... Sure, but the smooth and organic execution of AJ and Gaby made the difference. They looked at ease

The most amazing thing is that three of the men here do not look like dancers in the least because they don't have the usual dancer bodies at all, which goes to prove that looks can indeed be deceiving. I used to dance with the Mama Lu Parks Lindy Hoppers in NYC (I tap danced between their numbers) and since living in AZ I haven't found the swing dance community. This is the first time I found a Swing Dance in Phoenix! AWESOME!!!

Just "Wow" My mum did the Lindy Hop in the 1940s, she also did the Jive, Ballroom, Twist, and I believe I have taken after her as I love dance and music.
