Jay, as an old small engine mechanic I would recommend that you never leave ANY gas in tanks. Gasoline today is junk and it WILL go bad in six months or less. Best to drain tanks and run engine dry of any fuel.
@anthonyc1883
@anthonyc1883 12 днів тому
I, too, never leave gasoline in my various devices after the season (lawnmower, snow thrower, etc.) but how do you "drain" the tanks? I've never been able to get the gas out in any way other than running the engines until they stop. I try my very best to keep very little in the tanks so as not to waste gas, cause extra pollution and cause extra wear on the engines by running them uselessly before storage but sometimes there is more in the tanks than I want at the end of the season.

That Maple would have cost a pretty penny if you had to buy it. Those machines really pay for themselves quickly. Maybe when you're batting down the hatches for Winter you can some put Vick's vapor rub, Ben Gay or the like on cotton balls or wadding in those compartments as well as closing entries with steel wool if that's possible. Keep those mice out, I have no tolerance for mice! Glad to see Spring is coming to your neck of the woods. Stay safe and GOD bless

Jay, if you get a stationary feed roller stand (Home Depot sells them) you can adjust it to your planer outfeed table height and take out the wobble your having where it digs into the wood. Planed surface will be smooth the entire way thru start to finish. I have two one for indeed and one for outfeed. They have live rollers mounted to a height adjustable stand.

I got 3 hight adjustable roller stands from Harbor Freight for cheap and they work great for planning wood. I use a straight 2x4 and lower the planner down on the end of the 2x4 so it flat on the bottom plate, the adjust stands to the bottom of 2x4 you'll get way less thickness wavy boards at the end of boards. Love watching. Keep up the good work.

@@OffgridwithJayandJen Yes it happens ! I did a little milling on warm days through the Winter & I know wet sawdust will freeze things up so was pretty careful with my cleanup, I was a little lazy a few times in summer but Oct on had to keep it clean or no winter milling would of happened, That little mill will make all the lumber you need for your summer projects, I sure love mine :) Wish i would of had it 10 years sooner !

Suggestion. I can't remember the name but it's one of those "essential" oils. Put some of it on your filter to keep mice from wanting in to make a home. I's say a bottle with a cotton ball wick could be used inside your blade box too. So many things you can cut for, project wise, Sure makes me wish I had one. I'd be building so many things LOL. If you were to mill enough lumber, you could build you a shelter over the sawmill, and, build it big enough to store lumber too. That way you could get it dry before using it, and not have to worry about shrinkage. Any of your video's that show you building something, anything... are my favorite video's! Oh and also, your sugar shack extension I know has to kinda get in the way, there's something else you could build.! OK one more thing. A friend of mine who also owns a mill, built a shelter for his mill. He put a small solar set up to do two things. 1. To power some lights, so in the short daylight days, he can still mill, even once the sun went down(and also even if it's raining). and 2. He's put a small 12V winch over his mill to help lift logs on the mill, and also he runs the cable under a log, and back to the winch, and it turns the log for him. A little rigging, but he says it sure saves his back! Also, part of his buildings for his wood storage, he put a thick mill plastic over the top, and made shaker shingles to complete the roof. It looks awesome! One of the first things you see as you drive onto his property. (and you can't se the plastic unless you are under the structure and you are looking for it. Just some ideas, thought I'd share. Dang it, thought of something else. He has a "pole" barn kinda like yours. He bought a big cheap woodstove for it. He uses a lot of his cut off slabs to use in the stove. He said with the slabs being thin, the heat up fast, and heats up hot, but don't burn for very long once he quits feeding it and leaves his barn.

Do you know the voltage on the sensors? Let's test them.😊 Might help to put a thin flat board under it until it's flat on top, then turn it over. 😊
@OffgridwithJayandJen
@OffgridwithJayandJen 12 днів тому
Sensors don't have voltage I don't think....just on or off to allow the spark, but I'm not a professional
@paulmonk7820
@paulmonk7820 12 днів тому
@OffgridwithJayandJen Must all be connected to ground, then. But, if that's the case, they should all be connected to ground individually, not connected one after the other. They should all have one wire connected to ground , and the other wire from each one connected together to the spark cutoff. They have to be in parallel, not series. It only takes one of them to be bad or shorted out to kill the spark. Do you have a voltmeter or a 12 volt probe? If so, we can easily test them all. If not, just connect one at the time, and try to crank it. If that works, that one is OK. Disconnect it, and do the same with them all individually.

Try this next time: To roll a log, lay a rope, or two, under it, depending on length and weight, stretched to where you want it to go. Then, wrap the end(s) that are under the log over it and pull them toward where you want the log to go. Let me know if you like it. ❤😊
@SJC49
@SJC49 12 днів тому
How does that get the log up on the mill or is that just for moving them?
