Give yourself grace as you would a child who don't know until it's known. Patience and Grace is necessary. And that is a way to heal yourself. When you have a child, its instinctual. Be aware how you react and respond. When there's conflict, bring awareness to how your feeling in that moment. Take a moment to put it in 2nd person. Detach it from you, it's not you. When you're able to be aware of your responses, adjust them accordingly: Pause. Process, and figure out whether you need space to process the situation, or if it needs to be handled right away. You’ll be fine.. long story short he sunk as soon as he hit the water and had to be pulled out by an attentive lifeguard. He was perfectly fine and unharmed but it’s dangerous for kids to be unable to swim. I’ve always found it interesting how many of my black friends can’t swim. The rates were worse for Brittish blacks. Systemic racisim prevented our parents and grandparents from swimming so they can't teach it to us and there is a lack of swimming pools in our areas. Well done Mummy and Daddy, keep doing such great things for your children! I started having swimming lessons at the start of lockdown as I'd not learned properly as a child (and have trauma from a few incidents where I almost drowned and required rescuing). I'm gaining confidence each time I go. I've been having bicycle lessons too. After a lifetime of watching others have fun from the sidelines and being left with the bags I was finally sick of it and have learned how to swim and ride a bike in time for my 50th birthday. I say that to say this. When I see children learning to get past their apprehension and revel in what they can achieve with their bodies and their minds it brings me joy. When I see adults doing the same I am so proud of them too, I know the struggle and how much vulnerability you need to experience to take those risks that come easier to children. When I see positive examples of great parenting and respect for children as individuals it gives me great hope for the future. Keep on living with love ❤ 🤗😎
