I suggest bungee cords, Squeegie, and micro towels to help wipe down the windows with little to no smearing. Did you know they make chains for your size tires? That could help grip the snow and ice. If that sleeping bag has a bottom zipper keep the heated blanket feet and legs. You can keep it low and still be warm. Less is more. Too many clothes in a sleeping bag won't help keep you warm, but hold moisture and make you colder. A head cover for sleeping works better. Balance out your load. Help keep your buggy from bouncing so much and help distribute the weight equally on your power wheels. Like I said it's just suggestions.

Some friendly advice, from a joiner (Carpenter to the other side of the pond folks 😂) while there was nothing specifically wrong with the build - for the walls, I'd recommend weatherboards, they're manufactured with tongue and groves to click together seamlessly this means that water doesn't get into the joins between your wall and runs down the side and off your vehicle. Water sitting in those gaps will rot it quickly.
@frundlemud
@frundlemud 2 місяці тому
Butt joints shrink and as you said are not weatherproof also may become draughty. The basic idea is good.
@ElectricBillAlbright
@ElectricBillAlbright 2 місяці тому
Going on that idea, I was thinking of those simulated wood flooring planks. They have a rather precision tongue and groove that "clicks" into position. You could apply a small bead of silicone sealant across the groove just before installing them. Using these, I thought it would be less weight. One time, a friend had given me a few boxes of them left over from a remodeling. I used them to panel the inside walls of an old travel trailer that I use as a tool shed / workshop. An air nailer with slight head brads works great for attaching them without much noticing of the fasteners. 👍👍👍

He shouldn't need to redo the whole thing for that, he just needs to seal it better and he can do that by adding siding to it then I would go ahead and seal the inside with some insulation panels and then painted over with some light brown paint to match the inside wood. There's no reason he can't still use what he already has but there is always room for improvement.

@KenjiFox

@@QuietNerd That's a high end battery. It will almost certainly have low and high voltage protection, as well as low and high temperature protections in the BMS. If it doesn't have low temp cutoff for the charging mosfets, just put some nice insulation around the battery in your box. The battery will generate lots of warmth when under load, and has lots of thermal mass. The charge controller should have low temp charge protection with a built in temp sensor too in that case. Use flexible solar panels as they weigh like 20% of a glass and metal rigid one. MPPT would be highly valuable since the panels will be fixed angle.

I would suggest cutting back on weight, you probably dont need so many 2x4s, especially on the roof, where you could definitely get away with half as thin planks, alongside most of the frame. I would also definitely look into maximising the insulation everywhere where there isnt any. Something i thought of is double layering the windows with lots of space im between, which will reduce the heat loss drastically through the windows and also help as a second protection from rips ad punctures, but it may make it difficult to unfog unless the seal is like perfect. Or you could use acrylic sheets which are very expensive but very strong (in this case keep a layer on the outside to help with scratches) Also try to improve the ground clearance by shifting the wheels down with chains or cogs to help keep the powered axel out of the snow, and out of the way of rocks and stuff to avoid damage. Someone else suggested chained wheels which is a good idea.

Your camper content is incredibly refreshing. I'm so used to seeing $100k sprinter van conversions get so much attention for camping, they almost make it seem essential. My suggestion would be solar panels on each side of the roof if needing the extra power. Maybe instead of tarp you could use some waterproof vinyl fabric for the 'roofing' and then stitch the solar panels on top of it. There are videos of people doing that on boat bimini tops. I do live in south florida though so i'm not familiar with how that fabric would do in snowy weather, but it handles wind very well. Maybe not needed for short camping trips though. Other comments have also already mentioned some kind of fan/vent for the condensation or however you call it that your breathing indoors makes. Keep up the amazing videos, I look forward to them!

Add 4 wheeler tires, likely bounce less, much much more traction and you'll ride higher on snow. Motors won't strain as much. Also you can add a small fan/vent blowing out at that space you covered with tarp over the door. Turn it on when cooking it will rid alot of that condensation buildup inside. One more thing, young man, your a freaking genius

Next step. Insolate camper. Keep in mind that the inverter will generate heat. So you could add a couple of little fans to add air flow to help keep it cool. You did good
@shrk128
@shrk128 3 місяці тому
Points to improve upon: 1. make all membranes (tarp, vynil) double-layered, the layer of air between the two sheets could help with heat retention. 2. insulation for the walls and roof - add some sort of foam or fibrous insulation to prevent heat from escaping through these parts. 3. suspension - create a suspension system to raise the vehicle from the ground and reduce the amount of bouncing around. 4. - bonus - snowplow. Additional good things - add an awning for an extendable roof on the side for an improvised porch, good for when you want to do some campfire cooking. Another is - create a trailer. It could be used to haul extra gear, or even for a field shower.

That's such a cool thing and a super kind adorable host. Totally my dream home. All that wood has got to be very heavy. They are building ultra lite camper trailers with aluminum these days. I lived in a 5th wheeler two winters and really learned a LOT. keeping a little heat on is best and easier to reheat. Once all of the stuff inside the camper gets cold, it's harder to heat everything up again. Plus, when the windows get icy inside, it gets everything wet when it melts. I hung a double layer blackout curtain right over the doorway so when I went in and out it acted as a sort of breezeway to keep heat in.

Great job! A few pointers: 1. Rear view and side view mirrors. 2. Some sort of pop open top, vw camper style, hinges at front or rear of vehicle 3. A tiny wood burning stove 4. Thinner supports 5. Thinner veneer like luan so lightweight expansions are possible 6. Logbook of adventures 7. A boat port a pottie with separating waste bottom. 8. A second emergency entry exit for safety. #1: I love how this thing looks like a happy little pug jumping through the snow on your way to the camp site. #2: playing this for my 2 year old at bed time because you are just so damn calm it makes everyone feel better. #3: hit those front windows with a heat gun. They'll tighten up like a drum and probably make visibility a little better. #4: love your videos. You just seem like my kinda guy. #5: keep being awesome.

Love it... Some suggestions.. Definitely bigger wheels, like wheel barrow wheels. Headlights also, it will add to the "submersable" feel of it. You should try tracks, like a bulldozer, or maybe have a half track, they go faster and more maneuverable. Also - you should get the back door to open upwards, so it will make a little covered porch area when you open it up. You could even make a deployable set of tarp walls, but thats more a summer thing.
@ElysetheEevee
@ElysetheEevee 3 місяці тому
He made the original motor to work for a specific range of sizes/specific types of wheel. Just like on a combustion-powered vehicle (passenger cars, mainly), you can't stray outside of a certain range of sizes in wheels or your engine uses far more to power everything with even more actual power loss. You'd lose more than you gain, essentially. This is why they need to upgrade systems if you have a truck you want to jack up, since you'll need much larger wheels, typically both in height and width. On most vehicles, you'd have to modify the suspension, drivetrain, and possibly the engine in order to accommodate much, much larger wheels. He'd probably end up needing a lot more power to get several inches larger in diameter for wheels. I can't tell you specifics since I've never worked with such small systems, but this is just the general rule.

"I want you to know? I admire the time you have invested in this project and I am glad you brought this prototype to the table. The Camper Cube can be used as: 1. A hunter's Base on the field in the forest while camping. 2. A fun vehicle while beaching(Picnic). 3. A security Vehicle(Because it could stay at isolated zones for long periods while the officer is comfortable inside the vehicle without refreshing at a discharge station.) 4 . A regular mini camper, or other. IT WAS GOOD! That you have implemented the utilities used and recommended in this item; using a limited space for an Officer or camper's full function during exploration. However? When your pattern is prepped for industrial production as an inventor. Due to weight? You should change your wood walls to aluminum foam insultation. Include a dual skylight at the roof section that you rest at, and include all storage zones at the base of the floor. All Windows Should be tinted. Increase the the roof section six inches(Or a more feasible volume height to stand Comfortably.). Not manditory but optional roofing.(Change the Gable roof to a semi circle Arc.) . I could see this project coming alive. Also? Include a 100cc(It could be a 150cc but? I believe a 100cc engine can achieve what is needed) engine only, gas version of the same camper to be marketed. I am your new friend. I love your personality, and I love your work. I know how it feels when one invent something, because? I'm an inventor too. ~Thank you for your time. This item is needed.~ 👍

Here's my suggestion! Two 200w solar panels for the roof! If you can get it setup to recharge your battery whilst you're out doing other things in the wilderness, you could potentially have a longer stay! Other than that, you might find that an ESC could save you some battery cost. You could also improve it's handling capability by adding a conventional steering setup. I havent watched any other videos of yours yet, but there's gotta be a way Otherwise, 10/10 content! Loving the build!
