Sorry to be hyper negative but this is about as helpful as just toying with the plugin yourself. Can you maybe divide the video with chapters? Can you explain what the "Settings" cog is for? I see it says it will apply recommended settings but is that for before you apply true sky or while you're working on it? Is it possible for the hover-over tips to describe what the parameter is for? Can you show how to use the driver to animate clouds? Can you show how to add clouds to an existing project? (like, what to keep in mind, what do do if clouds aren't appearing) Why is the cloud altitude 4500m yet there are clouds on your terrain? You suggest working to real world scales yet when your clouds are 4.5km above the ground, they appear to be 20-50m high? How come in some cloud presets there is the option for "cloud coverage" but in other presets it's not available. How come the location value of the clouds doesn't appear to do anything? Any points to keep in mind about render settings?
@True-VFXРік тому
Hi Kyle, thanks for your feedback. All the UI specific buttons have tool-tips when you hover over them, for example when you hover over the settings cog, this states: "When turning True-Sky on, automatically assign True-VFXs recommended settings for rendering" So this will apply those settings only when you enable True-Sky. In version 1.1, we added in the user preferences all the recommended settings that we have enabled and what they are at default, so the user can adjust these to their liking, or revert them back if they wish. Yes, we can do a tutorial on how to animate clouds, but it's as simple as clicking the animation button in the help section, and then just pasting into any of the location values of the clouds. This video shows clouds being added to an existing project. Clouds should never not appear, as we handle the view clipping with that little cog mentioned before. The clouds aren't on the terrain, that's fog from the fog panel. Some clouds behave differently to others, and this is why some clouds have a 'coverage' option, and others don't and some clouds have "band fluffiness" and others don't. Not all clouds are the same, and therefore require different functions to allow artistic control. Location controls may not seem to do anything because the clouds are high up, and controls are in meters. So if you change it to 50m then you've only moved the clouds 50 meters. Due to the height of clouds (depending on how high you made them) then the parallax effect will make it as if there's been no change. If you have a terrain that is 1km wide, and you only move the clouds 50m then they will not look as though they have moved.

Thank you for this insane add on. I had to stop myself from tinkering after several hours drifted by.. One request (unless it's there and I'm missing it): would be super useful if one could raise/lower the horizon line. Unless your camera is at a pretty low vantage point, or the horizon has plenty in front of it, you get this band of darkness right at the middle of the view. Would be REALLY great if one could cheat that down whenever needed.

How does your product compare to the "Physical Starlight And Atmosphere" add on? What makes this one better?
@True-VFXРік тому
To be totally honest I wouldnt say it's better. It's different. We offer much more accurate cloud and atmospheric systems. PSA offers render speed and Eevee compatibility along with I believe stars and such. They're comparable in terms of other functions. It really depends on what you're looking for. If you're after a product that offers great skies and render times along with Eevee support then I'd say go for PSA as right now we don't support Eevee. If you're after better clouds, volumetric fogs and haze and light/shadow rays and can accept that your render times will be longer then True-Sky is a good option.
@mixchiefРік тому
@@True-VFX That upright answer triggers an instant purchase reaction for me, despite already owning PSA which is also good. Also, the great fog, haze and cloud options look very attractive.
@dawsonwaters1371Рік тому
I have both and both can be used for different purposes. I found that for large scale landscape scenes, the fog/volume can be a nice touch with the True Sky addon. PSA addon works the best with timelapses or moving clouds/lighting transitions and clean gradient sunsets. PSA is also much faster. If you're looking for an addon that gives you the fastest, cleanest, accurate "weather" volumetrics, True Sky is it. If you want to light your scene quickly and the keep the sky simple, PSA is your best move. (In my opinion)

@@True-VFX question, i just download the free test of the addon. Take 7.50 m a single frame. With optix in a rtx 3060ti, with 128 samples. thats normal render time?
@True-VFXРік тому
@@degibocu Hey, this sounds a little longer than what we'd expect, we tested a 3060 (non ti) around 6 minutes and 10 seconds using these Benchmarks on the "balanced" scene, and then 1 minute and 7 seconds on the "fastest" scene. I would advise making sure that you're on the latest build of Blender and that you have the most updated GPU drivers for your card (these can be found at Nvidia's website under "drivers", or using the Geforce experience app). There also other factors that can bottleneck render times, like your CPU or motherboard may not be able to provide your card with the bandwidth etc. We will have a video up showing render times on a 1080, 3060, 2070mobile and 3090 soon.

The addon results look fantastic! This might be a simple question, but is there a way to export whatever sky made to an HDRI file ? (for use with game engines in my case)
@True-VFXРік тому
Thank you very much! At the moment, no there is no tool built into True-Sky to do that. However that’s a great idea and we can look into adding it! Saying that, manually you can. -HF

I bought this product and it is good, but frankly it must be said, it is that to take a single photo, it is not to make a film..... I have a scene with a city, with ""NISHITA"" Texture Sky The photo is 30 seconds!! With TRUE SKY, the same photo 45 minutes So you go from 30 seconds….to 45 minutes So you can't make movies with that, it's impossible!! ************************************** To make the clouds appear, the camera had to be at! Clip Star ““0.1”” End "1000000m"" By default in Blender it is "100 m"
@True-VFXРік тому
Hi Michael We automatically set up the camera provided you have one in your scene. So the clipping information doesn't matter nor does it change how long it takes to render anything. Regarding render times, 45 minutes seems a little long if the only thing you changed was the sky. 30 seconds to 5 minutes per frame seems more reasonable and we've shown render times in this video: ukposts.info/have/v-deo/mWiTa5iEnZimp4U.html If you're struggling with render times please join our discord channel where we can help you.
