I had an iPhone 13 Pro Max and recently upgraded to the Fold 5. I don't regret it at all it is an amazing phone.

I agree with you in everything, but I would really enjoy bigger screen resolution, like the ultra versions. It might seem excessive but, when you use really small font you can notice the difference in this phone (GZFlip 5) and older phones like S9+. It's not a huge problem but with the price I think It'll be great to have the best screen.

Excellent review. First time on your channel. I wanted to upgrade my current Samsung with S pen to z fold 5. The person at the phone kiosk inside Costco (Toronto) stated that if you drop your z fold 5 it could cost you a lot of money to fix it. And if you wish to buy additional warranty to cover the damage it will be pricey. Knowing the cost of this phone is pretty high, I am now hesitant to upgrade to z fold 5.

I switched from fold 3, it's lighter and inner screen is much better for outdoor use. I dropped my fold 3 a few times, folded and unfolded, screens was not damaged at all. Hope this lighter one can do even better.

I owned the zfold 3 , but have swapped to s24 ultra , but I find the fold phone was so easy to use thanks to the candy bar outer screen , and now I have a the new phone I find it very clunky to use now , I miss using the main fold screen when in home , s24 ultra is a good phone , but I think for what I use the phone for nowadays sways more towards the fold phones. I never use cases for my phones and despite dropping the fold 3 had very similar outer damage to your phone , all in all I love the fold phones , and will probably go back to it after this one. I'm glad it holds up on falls bc I have neuropathy and I drop my phone extremely much. I always buy Samsung bc of the Gorilla Glass alone. I traded in my S21 5g for my Fold 5. I've had that phone about 3 yrs I just had the hard clear case on it that is raised on the edges and by the camera. I'm not exaggerating that phone was still perfect, despite my hundreds of drops... So I just got a similar hard clear case that covers the back and the front is raised but no screen protector.. So hopefully this phone will do the same. Thanks for your video, it made me so much more confident in my choice of this phone...

I've avoided a foldable because I kept hearing people complaining about the narrow cover display, how it's too cramped and unusable. But I've always wanted a foldable. So when OnePlus dropped the Open I bought one. And absolutely fell in love with the foldable experience. But for me the one thing that the OnePlus Open was missing is OneUI. So I traded out my secondary phone, an iPhone 14 PM for the Zfold 5. And I love it! The cover display is surprisingly a joy to use. I'm always texting my friends and I tend to type one handed and the cover screen is perfect for that. And it's fine for scrolling through Twitter or Threads as well. Basically the only thing I feel like I need to unfold it for is streaming services like HBO.

I'm glad because people only talk about the flip and it's cute but I like to game and watch videos so I feel like the fold is better for me

Yep, after owning my Z Fold5 since release, and upgrading from my still excellent S21 Ultra, the honeymoon period and sheer enjoyment of using my very first foldable has not left me! Multitasking is amazing, watching content is incredible, and I love the real estate offered by the main folding display. I also use the cover display more often for daily tasks or triage notifications, and for basic tasks outdoors too. However, the most surprising aspect for me, before I got the phone, was how I thought I'd be using multiple apps on the folding screen often as I had on the S21 Ultra. I do use splitscreen on the Z Fold5 when necessary, but I often find it more enjoyable to just open up a single app for the entire folding screen, and have some pop up apps if needed; the real estate is so awesome with some apps on the main folding screen that I just use it as such. Reading webpages has been the biggest surprise to me, where in the past I would almost always splitscreen on my S21 Ultra (usually with UKposts), I now infrequently do this on the Z Fold5, preferring to use Google Chrome on the bigger screen. Reading, without having another app to distract, on a massive screen, has now become my biggest usage of the Z Fold5, due to the sheer comfort that the folding screen offers, and is similar to reading a book too! I'm also an avid S Pen user, using both S Pen Pro and Slim S Pen on my Z Fold5. My only gripes are the lower zoom cameras and mixed camera quality at this price point. Even here, the picture quality itself is not bad at all (except beyond 3x magnification), but I'm hoping that flagship cameras can be integrated into the next Z Fold6 onwards. I've used the under the display camera for video calls too. The one camera I've not used is the cover display camera; I've almost exclusively used the 50MP camera for selfies using the cover display as a screen viewfinder! Despite the above, my main use of my Z Fold5 is the actual joy of using it outside of photography, and this has been my most postive experience; using the Z Fold5 has transformed how I use my phone, do daily tasks, and expands upon my enjoyment of using previous Galaxy Note and S Ultra phones. Foldables are the future for me! Edit: amended post for clarity and readability.

From a fellow Fold 5 user, you hit the nail on the head with the review update. The phone has definitely replaced my tablet usage, as the opened inner screen is perfectly enough. I've even stopped dragging the tablet around when I go to use my drone...this screen fits the bill just fine. So convenient. I just couldn't do it though...no way I could go case-less. Good to know the phone has some durability, but yeah, no way. Cases for the Fold definitely leave something to be desired, many hampering the functionality of the cover screen or side power button. I really do miss 10x optical on the camera (upgrading from a S22 Ultra)...and I still don't know why you can't use the flash on flex-selfie mode. Such a great feature to use the cover screen for selfie preview when taking a selfie, but unless the lighting is perfect it is just lacking for great shots (I'll still do a blind selfie and trust my framing skill hitting the capture button without seeing the screen - just so I can get the flash to work).

Iam a power user i always had issues wit samsung batteries they start off decent but after afew months same issues arise i had the iphone 13 pro max and that battery life was great even tho i switched bak to samsung im thinkng of goin back to iphon beacuse of weak battery life in samsungs. How does this fair with all day use youtube watchning blue tooth connection etc

Only thing I don't like about the fold 5 is where they have the tablet mode camera when using flex mode to video chat, I shouldn't have to have the phone part screen facing down they should definitely switch the side the camera is on in the next generation

Is it hard to adapt from an s22 sized phone?

I love this phone. It's the 4th generation that I've had and I'll buy it as long as they make it or at least make something better.

I found very interesting concept of folding but.. in all my honesty it's hard to ignore the "middle" fold line that clearly visible.. i wonder.. but probably couldn't not ignore that while using phone. Probably this will get less to zero noticable in the future .. right?

I just have an issue with the phone since I transferred..... it gives ne extra short screen on tume actually...... 14 hrs with just 3 hrs screen on time as max and it dies !

The Z Fold 5 is my first foldable, and I'm very happy with it. I think the behind the screen camera for Zoom meetings works very well. I'm good with the narrow outside screen, it's very pocketable when folded.

Ive had a zfold 3 for 2 years. The big screen is great. The known issues are not. No sound in the open position

Got mine 3 days ago after having the note 20 ultra for the last 3 years. Its not a massive upgrade in battery life, and they both have 512gb memory, and 12bg ram. But I have already fallen in love with fold z5.

Coming from an iPhone13 Mini, the cover display is the same width as the 13mini screen, with more height. Its been such a great transition away from iPhone.

Is it better than the note / ultra?

I can still see the seam in the middle of the display. Why not just get a tablet??
