As a poor woman from eastern Kentucky, who undoubtedly grew up both dirt poor and abused, Johnny’s mother and Vanessa would appear to have virtually nothing in common. Regarding Vanessa, why would a woman who is so quintessentially French want to even try to put down roots in a place (Los Angeles/Hollywood) that is so obviously artificial, arriviste, when her own career, her fame, her connections, her culture, are in Paris? Had Jonny just stopped and thought for awhile about his family-Vanessa and the children, he could have begun to have a conscious understanding of what he had and found some other way to calm his middle age crisis. Lots of successful couples manage to carry on successful bi-coastal and international relationships and learn to treasure the time they have together, wherever it may be. After all, these are people with access to private jets who can go wherever they want at a moment’s notice.

If you read what he said about Vanessa P. a little later, it is quite nice. And why would he spend a Christmas with Vanessa, his kids, Vanessa’s new husband a little more recently, if he couldn’t stand her? She is the nicest woman and I remember how she looked sad in an interview when they broke up, but didn’t want to say anything bad against him. This is a classy lady.
