Likely the greatest #2 announcer ever. Not taking anything away from him though. He backed up some solid names while being great in his own right. Gumbel, Nantz, Stockton, Musburguer and, last but not least, Pat Summerall. But it's true: the SEC on CBS was the best thing for him

He called the Cowboys games on radio between 1967-84 (a pretty good period for the Cowboys), he has called the Masters for almost 40 years (and counting, it's his only event now), he did NFL on CBS on both eras, being the #2 play by play man in the end of their NFC days and their early days as AFC broadcaster, had many years on March Madness as well, called some big NBA games when CBS had them too (like the 1990 eastern conference final between Detroit and Chicago) It's easier to name what Verne didn't got to call
