First of all, I am so sorry that you had to go through this. That's an awful thing to have to experience, without some vile priest making things even worse. I had a similar experience at my friend's funeral. This priest at least had the sense not to directly say that she was going to hell for commiting suicide, but he did spend the entire funeral preaching about how you need to repent and be with god to get into heaven, and given that she was openly atheist ended up being pretty much the same thing. Also, wow, hijacking a 14 year old kid's funeral to preach your religion is an awful thing to do??? And yeah, I don't think either of the involved priests will ever see the gates of heaven.

That exact thing happened at one of my friend’s funeral after he had killer himself. The pastor or whatever was talking about how he used to be a good Christian but now he’s in Hell and all this shit. It left his mother weeping and shaking, I felt so awful. It’s like, how the Hell can you say shit like this at this time? It’s a terrible belief to hold but even if someone does believe this sort of thing, why bring it up then? Like it was a wildly inappropriate time to voice his dumbass opinion. Put an awful taste in our mouths.

I had a friend who was shot and killed when we were 16. He was a good guy but didn’t believe in God and when the pastor basically said he wasn’t going to heaven is when I stopped going to church. I also got cornered by a grown man trying to kiss me when I was 14 and they did nothing about it. My parents even stopped asking me to go after that one lol

i know this isnt what you were wanting to say but as christians we do need to recognize at these people are christians, just not “good” christians. they dont use the word of god correctly for sure but they do still believe in the bare minimum that jesus says gets us to heaven. this is an issue with all groups that say “we dont claim them”, its like no we need to recognize that people within communities can be shitty but that doesnt invalidate the rest of the community. like someone can be trans and also racist, that doesnt mean they arent trans but in actuality just represent an issue within the community that should be addressed

If God created the universe and everything in it including Adam, and if God is also omnipotent and omniscient then he is also the orchestrator of every event that has or will ever take place because he has created everything while knowing exactly how everything will play out based on the way he's created and set everything up. Therefore he did create sin. Let me explain it this way, if you create a duck and you create a pond and place them where the duck can get to that water, all while knowing that duck will in fact get in the water if you continue doing what you're doing then you've effectively made a pond with a duck in it. If you can know exactly what happens before you do it and you continue doing it you're making a conscious decision to make those events occur. If however, God knows everything except what humans do because of "free will" then he isn't omniscient and therefore couldn't have a grand plan for anything. So either free will doesn't exist or God isn't omniscient and has no plan. The entire concept of all of this is inherently contradictory as shown with some simple thought experiments.

What Jesus says here is that if we accept the Gospel of Christ through faith and absolute trust in Him, we shall be saved. This isn't to say that critique and skepticism is evil and discouraged. Yet what must be understood is that faith is what governs Christianity, and it is one's trust in God that determines their walk with Him. For further referential matter on faith, I recommend Hebrews 11 and 12:1-3. Thanks for the response, it was very enlightening.
