This actually is important to the health of the horse as helps stop hoof complications and is like a pedicure for them

If their hoofs are naturally a brighter color, they are more brittle and prone to cracking when going fast, so horses lighter hoofs most likely will need horseshoes.
@shroomey66862 роки тому
so wild horses are suffering with their untreated hooves?
@em51802 роки тому
@shroomey I'm fairly certain that the kind of terrain the horse will be on affects the likelihood of said complications. Horses that are on concrete, asphalt, brick will wear their hooves down way more than wild horses that will mostly be on grass and dirt.
@gots03592 роки тому
@@shroomey6686 haha, you triggered my trump card, i actually know about this topic! So, basically span of wild horse is 5 years shorter than domesticated one (dont actually know exact number but around this mark). Reasons to this are the ones you suggest: 1) Hoofs aint getting that fresh cut their whole life, so are disease prone, and in case they got damage, there's no one to treat the hoof. 2) They get damaged and destroyed, due to them traveling in mountains or plains, and simply they face the harsh nature on everyday basis, while domesticated horses are usually travelling the same old plain or farm, maybe get to walk in the trees but don't go around as much as wild ones.

I was taught the same, looking back I think it’s more about trust from the horse than actually hurting them. They’re more likely to bolt if they don’t trust you, or feel like you might hurt them.
