Many people are asking if the horse felt any pain or discomfort during this. No, the horse doesn't feel any pain whatsoever as this process is same as we humans getting pedicure. The guy who is doing this is clearly experienced in his work and the horse is also smart enough to understand what he's owner is doing to him

"Horseshoes are used to help aid in the durability of the hoof on working horses. The hoof itself is made up of the same stuff as your fingernail, called keratin. However, the hoof has a soft and tender inner part called the frog, that can be injured. The hoof will naturally wear away when horses walk so adding a shoe onto the hoof helps to diminish that and keep the frog in healthy condition." -The more you know. They've learned that they feel much better afterward with trimmed hooves and nice newly fitted shoes, and they have nothing to fear. It doesn't hurt, it just feels funny like our nails getting clipped. They get breaks in between each foot so they can put weight back on that leg. They've learned that they can trust the farrier not to hurt them at any point in time. It's classic conditioning.

So, basically span of wild horse is 5 years shorter than domesticated one (dont actually know exact number but around this mark). Reasons to this are the ones you suggest: 1) Hoofs aint getting that fresh cut their whole life, so are disease prone, and in case they got damage, there's no one to treat the hoof. 2) They get damaged and destroyed, due to them traveling in mountains or plains, and simply they face the harsh nature on everyday basis, while domesticated horses are usually travelling the same old plain or farm, maybe get to walk in the trees but don't go around as much as wild ones.

@@edwardfitzgerald3877 I mean if you feed them and take care of them and let them roam around and have free time yeah I don't see why they would care I mean they're animals they're not as intelligent as humans and they don't have hands to do anything even if they were smarter so there's not much they can do to be happy other than being cared for.
