XESS 1.3 on GitHub: github.com/intel/xess
XESS just got a brand new 1.3 update and it's pretty incredible. Before Intel's upscaler had major things going for it- its based on machine learning (AI), it works on every GPU brand, and continues to have better and better image quality. BUT it has lacked one thing... and that's its performance. You would always have to scale from an even lower resolution in order to achieve similar FPS compared to mostly FSR, but DLSS as well... but XESS 1.3 aims to fix this. But does it succeed?
In this we break down what is in this update, how to mod it into your games if you wanna try, expected performance, image quality and if you should use it.
