I actually felt she was the weakest link by far. The romance scenes were very hollow and shes quite wooden. Her death scene at the end dragged on far too long, even though she was impaled with seven rods.

I like the way their relationship is portrayed, it's not forced and still very intense which is really rare to see it in a blockbuster film

Yeah. Looks like a studio flat, everything is in one room, at 1:41 you can see a microwave next to the desk then out of the frame I guess it's the kitchen. And the bed is actually right across the room. It's even smaller than it seems. It also has one window like a window on a parcel box or an envelope. Overall a bit isolated and depressing. There are a lot of single-bed apartments like that in real life big cities. Not ideal at all. EDIT: you see that room again in Ressurections' opening!

It is a Philosophy book. Philosophy is central to the writing and understanding of the Matrix. Many different Philosophies and Schools of thought are depicted in the movie.

@@impact0r Yeah, I think the Messiah thing was there from the first one but I get your point. The 3rd movie still ended the story with a full stop at least... Whether you liked that ending or not. It also was more good than bad overall. Gun to your head, I guarantee you'd prefer to rewatch the 3rd movie over this latest abomination.

​@@paulpesci1 Matrix 2 leaves hints that there actually might be a second level of the Matrix - the bluish one, where the Zion and the "machines" are. When Neo starts uses his magical super powers in the blue matrix, he drops unconscious because a security fuse blows and he is immediately unplugged from the blue level - kicked out to a/the higher level - potentially the actual real world, where he wakes up to the actual reality (together with Bane, who's fuse blows due to an anomaly of a lvl1 Matrix program (Smith) making its way into the lvl2 Matrix). This could have been exploited in the 3rd movie, but instead was ignored and the story got boring and also nonsensical (in the real world, there are not supposed to be super powers, or a blue tint for that matter).

I remember that feeling well after having seen this film for the first time. It was all that the kids at my school talked about for months. Every guy at the mall frantically searched the sunglasses kiosk for a pair of Neo-inspired shades. The Matrix definitely had a huge impact on pop culture. And the fact that the film came out just before the new millennium gave everyone that anxious feeling of what to expect...that maybe computers and machines are on the verge of fully taking over our way of life and how the Matrix is a fantasy foreshadowing of events to come in the year 2000. It's easily one of the best sci-fi/action films to date. Also guy in the comments is an asshole.

@@scorpionwins6378 Yup, agree with all that. Brilliant film, it just blew my mind. Nothing has really come close since. And yeah, there's always at least one douche in every comment section. @Tiredofdumbfuks Me too. I watched all of those. The only one that came within a million miles was Equilibrium...which was basically a rip-off. That had some cool moments. But still not in the same universe as The Matrix.
